Social Profile:

We’re a Belgian bakery and restaurant serving simple, wholesome and seasonal food. Le Pain Quotidien means “the daily bread” in French, and like our name suggests, we’re bakers at heart. Although our handmade, organic bread is how we got our start, we serve a variety of healthy options like organic coffee, pastries, eggs, tartines, soups, salads and desserts. At Le Pain Quotidien, we believe that food should be simple, nourishing and delicious. That’s why we source ingredients that are local or organic whenever possible. We also believe in the importance of eating a healthy, plant-based diet, so you’ll find many vegetarian or vegan options on our menu.

Classic light fare & organic breads fill out the menu at this rustic-chic bakery/cafe chain.

Walked in here on a blisteringly cold day for some soup. I was pleasantly surprised! The lentil soup was excellent and the slice of bread that came with it was very tasty. Even though it was cold outside, I ate al fresco before my matinee of Ragtime at LCT.

First time to Le Pain Quotidien, I was told each location is a bit different.

What I liked about this location in the Columbus Circle area was it was just in a bit off the main street and not as loud or busy as a few other coffee/breakfast/bakery/lunch spots I stopped into in the immediate area.

Theme is French country, with lots of unfinished wood cabinetry. Up front is a bread/pastry case that looked amazing.

Fairly open space, plenty of seating for parties of 1 to 4 people.

Nice menu which I thought was not over the top in terms of price .

Quite a touristy spot when I visited.

Table service. Coffee served in a single serve pot you pour into your handle-less cup, – nice touch.

Nice wait staff.

Easy to carry on conversation, not hustled out the door, good spot to meet.

Enjoyed the food and selection.

Walking into this restaurant felt like stepping into a cozy little French bistro with its inviting atmosphere. The kind of place where you half expect a charming server to recommend the perfect wine pairing in a thick Parisian accent. That was not the case.

Instead, our server seemed to be in the middle of an existential crisis. Taking our order felt like a chore, listening was optional, and waters arrived sometime around dessert (or at least that’s how it felt).

But then—the food arrived. Fresh, fast, and absolutely delicious. The kind of meal that makes you forget minor inconveniences like thirst. So, despite the service feeling like an afterthought, I still loved the place. I’ll be back, hopefully to a slightly cheerier server, but either way, I’ll just bring my own water bottle next time.

The most refreshing mint lemonade I’ve ever had. Quenches my thirst on this hot fall day. They were very generous with the mint and the flavour profile was well balanced. Just the right amount of sweetness.

We went to this cafe twice, during our stay in New York. On our first visit everything was wonderful. The server was attentive polite and helpful. She was organising and even though it was busy she was on the ball. The food was great. This what made us go back…. I can’t say our second visit was the same, I had the same dish that I ordered the first time and it tasted awful, the hot drinks were lukewarm and the server was running around like a headless chicken. We waited quite some time for her at the start to take our order, or in fact to bring a menu! She was amused by the faceted that we waited so long quietly!!

Rustic feeling cafe has clearly labeled menu with calories. The vibe was good. I ordered a sunny side breakfast bowl. It was good. The menu said it comes with a side of their artisanal bread but they didn’t give me. They provided when I asked for it. They also asked me not to take pictures of the interior of cafe.

Really beautifully decorated space that is has a calming color palette and relaxing music playing. The pastries were delicious and the latte and turmeric latte were tasty. However the service was a little slow, hence me taking off a star. Not by any fault of our server- he was just the only one serving the entire cafe. Nice place to come if you’re not in a rush!

I’m here on a vacation in New York and this is my go-to coffee and breakfast place for every morning. The coffee is fantastic and the food is incredible as well. The best part is the atmosphere at this cafe. It literally takes you back to France, with a pleasant and soothing ambiance. A perfect spot to come alone to work or just relax with a book. The service is amazing and quick!

The food here is tasty and the atmosphere pleasant. The service, however, can be slow at best. I wouldn’t suggest it at busy times if you need to finish in a timely fashion.

Myself and a large group were there recently post-opera. The service was extremely slow and they were CLEARLY understaffed with only 2 waiters. That being said, the servers should have shown more aplomb. I waited tables for 15 years and know that a smile and friendly word goes a long way towards placating guests who have waited too long and improves the situation for both guests and staff. There was an issue with something and the waiter was surly with me and no apology for the uneven, glacially slow service.

This place has gone so far downhill! The breakfast was absolutely pitiful. But service was good. I mean we’re talking a single egg in a skillet with a piece of mediocre bread for $15? No feta as the menu indicted and just two grape tomato halves. Thankfully the coffee and company were solid. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot, there are so many other places in the hood (Maman on Columbus, Old John’s on W67th, Cafe Aroma on Broadway/62, and more. Pass this LPQ by…bye, bye.
