We’re a Belgian bakery and restaurant serving simple, wholesome and seasonal food. Le Pain Quotidien means “the daily bread” in French, and like our name suggests, we’re bakers at heart. Although our handmade, organic bread is how we got our start, we serve a variety of healthy options like organic coffee, pastries, eggs, tartines, soups, salads and desserts. At Le Pain Quotidien, we believe that food should be simple, nourishing and delicious. That’s why we source ingredients that are local or organic whenever possible. We also believe in the importance of eating a healthy, plant-based diet, so you’ll find many vegetarian or vegan options on our menu.

The goodies from this venue were spectacular, both in appearance and in taste! I got three treats – the Gingerbread Pecan Crookie, the Cheese Danish, and the Star Linzer Cookie, the latter two to give to friends.
The Gingerbread Pecan Crookie was perfect. Incredibly fall-apart-flaky, indulgently buttery, not too sweet at all, and perfectly filling. There was some sort of sweet, soft layer inside – maybe a filling – that texturally complemented the rest of the crackly, flaky pastry. The lightly sweetened croissant + the chewy, spiced cookie made for the perfect combination!
Service was disappointing to me – I was rushed when looking at the display case, even when there was no one behind me in line. My order was also inputted incorrectly because I was cut off prematurely. Still, I think these baked goods were more than delicious, so I would return to try additional items.

If you are looking to just pop in and grab some pastries this would be a good spot. Ordered a few items for breakfast and coffee to go. Regular coffee was quick any espresso drink expect to wait for 15 minutes. While the pastries are good I am not confident they are made in the store. When we ordered the French cream doughnut the cream in the middle seemed frozen. Others enjoy the passion fruit and lemon tartes. If you are getting pastries to enjoy in the shop and not eating at the restaurant it is standing room with counter tops.

First time there we walked in and picked out some pastries, coffee, and hot chocolate. As we went to sit down we were told we were not allowed too and if we had wanted to eat there we had to order at the table. No sign or employee told us this when we entered. Pastries were great, coffee basic but bad hot chocolate (tasted of only warm milk). We decided to go back for breakfast since the pastries were great. Ordered food and breakfast. Coffee was served in a ceramic kettle with bowls. Too big for one hand drinking needed two hands. We asked for cups but they said the bowls were cups. Coffee in kettle was room temp amd sugar would not desolve. Food arrived and waffle was cold. Waiter was kind but very busy as he had no help. Will not be going back even though we stay right around the corner several times a year.

We ordered several boxes of take out pastries to carry (happily) back to our hotel room. Overall, we were very pleased with the items, but mostly excited by the prices – for fancy pastries in the heart of NYC, this place did not break the bank! The fruit tarts, brownie souffle, and iced green tea were the best of the bunch. Would visit again in a heart beat. We did note that seated, restaurant style breakfast was also being served in the back. It was quite refined (even if it was in a windowless back room) – but if you’re a tourist on a budget, we suggest sticking to the pastry counter 🙂

Like a European cafe-tight seating but well lit and on the day we were there, a friendly crowd. Spouse and I sat at a large table with other diners. Lovely. Service very good. Oatmilk latte and decaf almond milk latte both delicious-get a bowl not a take out cup. GF spouse went for chia pudding, I had quiche Lorraine that came with a delicious side salad and two different breads. Had to get the huge French donut filled with at least an inch and a half of cream-so good. Would definitely return.

We stopped here for brunch with a few friends. The dining area manages to feel less crowded than most NY cafes.
I had the 3 egg breakfast which was mostly good. It has that popular NY theme of salad for breakfast. How did that happen? Also the gluten-free toast wasn’t worth the effort.
My wife had the quiche and loved it. The espresso drinks were fresh and my quad espresso was smooth with a nice crema.
Other than the stab at gluten-free toast this was worth a repeat.

My husband and I went there yesterday with my 2yo daughter. The French cream doughnut was at the window calling our attention. We were searching for a place to have dinner, so we looked at the menu and we gave it a try. It was the best decision we have made. A super friendly waitress named Tina did an excellent service, she accommodated us and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered quiche, omelette with ham and the dessert that caught our eyes: French cream doughnuts with a delicious homemade cream! All the staff was kind and generous. I totally recommend this place and I’m planning to come back in the next trip to NY. ♥️

LPQ has mostly disappeared from London, so finding them all over New York feels extra special. I popped in on a cold, snowy day and their chicken soup was exactly the kind of warmth I needed. I paired it with a spelt scone. A slightly odd choice, I know, but I fancied it and honestly enjoyed every bite.
Simple, comforting, and perfect for winter. Would happily go back.
