Went to Le Mesturet for lunch with no expectations, just vibes. The place is packed and full of locals (which is a good sign). Turns out the food is amazingly good. Highly recommend if you are looking for French local food with affordable price and close to authentic taste.

Well we finally ate here after passing by it so many times. I have to say i was disappointed. First we didn’t get our amuse bouche like other tables. We didn’t even know it until other people sat next to us got it. When we mentionnéd it to the waiter, he wanted to bring it but we had already finished eating. Second, they brought me the wrong main course and I had to wait for it. By the time they brought it , my husband had almost finished his meal. My plate had the potatoe pancake that was too hard and cold. It must have been prepared in advance. And the potatoes for my husband’s dish was undercooked. The meat, mine deer meat and my husband beef, was very stringy. It was not nice. Service was médiocre. Friendly enough but never came to ask to refille the water or see if we needed anything else. I was also shocked to see how many tourist were there. Maybe the restaurant became “touristique”. Anyway will not go back again.

Such a lovely group of people. I enjoyed my time there, the food was good, and the service was wonderful. I was recommended after asking about traditional French dishes and enjoyed both an appetizer and main course.

My husband and I visited this restaurant during our trip in mid September. They are open late and serve food late which is how we ended up going there. Their French onion soup is watery with no cheese. We tried frog legs for the first time and it was delicious!

Good traditional French food. It’s somewhere between fancy and home cooking. The price is also nice for a 2-3 course meal. The servers are very nice but you could clearly tell that they were understaffed. They were working so hard but just couldn’t keep up with the workload and the number of customers. I hope the owner hires more servers for everyone’s sake.

The restaurant was cosy with nice decorations. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, the food was not as good as expected. My friend and I ordered escargot and onion soup as starter. Escargot was not made in the traditional way with the green butter but a stir-fried dish with mushroom. It tasted weird. The onion soup was a scammer for that price. The stewed beef was bitter due to the thick overcooked wine sauce. The vegetables and beef tasted plain. I had a hard time trying to finish the dish. My friend’s burger was okay. The dessert was good though. Overall, it was not a pleasant dining experience for us mainly because of the food quality.

Excellent local restaurant serving local dishes. We had beef bourguignon, veal stew, beef tartar and their version of steak frites and everything was delicious! Service was accommodating and friendly. Wine selection was premium. Would definitely go back.
