We visited the iconic restaurant for a drink. The waiter was very friendly. We sat in the covered terrace, which was busy with a mix of locals and tourists. We selected a Hemingway Daqueri and a Gin & tonic. They were strong drinks served with a dish of fresh olives. The restaurant is a beautiful example of art deco decoration. On a cold January evening it offered a warm glowing welcome.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Le Dôme Montparnasse – Where Paris Still Feels Eternal
After the roar of the Judo World Championships faded, I found myself under the golden lights of Le Dôme, one of Paris’s most iconic brasseries. The corner glowed like a scene from a 1920s postcard — domed glass, art nouveau curves, and the kind of ambiance that makes you stop and take in the magic of Montparnasse at night.

I started with an espresso martini that could make Hemingway raise a glass — rich, perfectly balanced, with the aroma of fresh espresso floating above the Paris air. The olives on the side were a subtle but classic touch.

For dinner, I ordered the ribeye steak, seared perfectly with a caramelized crust and paired with buttery potatoes and tender haricots verts. Simple, elegant, and executed with the precision that defines old-world French dining.

Inside, the candlelight flickered against mirrored walls and red woven chairs. The staff moved like clockwork — gracious, unhurried, confident in the timeless rhythm of a Parisian evening.

Final Verdict: Le Dôme isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a mood, a memory, and a piece of Parisian history still beating strong. Come here to celebrate something, or just to remind yourself why Paris will always be Paris.

I went to Le Dome with high expectations, based on its reputation of having been a favorite place of Anthony Bourdain, Hemingway, etc. My meal started well enough, with fresh local oysters. However, my main dish of Bouillabaise was a bit disappointing, as large serving bowl the server brought out had nothing but fish. No shellfish of any kind, no shrimp. Is this normal? The same dish I tried at Alain Ducasse Rech was far more enjoyable. Another issue is that I am not happy with the changing tip culture in Paris, as my server explicitly asked whether he should add tip to my bill. It is my first ever visit to Le Dome, and I hope my experience this time was an anomaly. The overall ambience was very nice.

Visited Le Dôme on 2 January during dinner service, and it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had.

The waiter who initially served us was polite, but after ordering, we waited 45 minutes to over an hour for our main course with no update at all. When we tried to ask for an update, two waiters completely ignored us — one in a suit and one without.

Only later did the waiter in the suit come over to explain that they had broken our plate and the chef is remaking it. This explanation was given only after we asked. Shouldn’t staff proactively inform waiting guests, especially when delays are this long? What made it even more frustrating was that large groups who arrived after us were served before us, which is exactly why we asked for an update.
When the main finally arrived, the same waiter in the suit kept coming back repeatedly asking if everything was alright — which felt insincere after how we were treated.

When we asked for the bill and were clearly ready to leave, we were strangely told to sit back down. After paying, the waiter loudly and sarcastically said “thank you” in English, then immediately turned to his colleague and made a rude comment in French, saying “merde.”

Speaking French in front of customers who are clearly non-French-speaking to make rude comments is already disrespectful. What makes it worse — and frankly embarrassing — is that my partner studied French at school, so we clearly understood that he was speaking behind our backs.

Coming from New Zealand, where we have genuinely excellent fine dining, this was even more disappointing. The food was very average — the fish and scallop risotto was bland and completely unremarkable, nowhere near the standard this restaurant pretends to offer.

This is not about “rude French people.” It’s about unprofessional service, poor communication, and blatant disrespect toward paying customers.
Absolutely unacceptable.

Foreigners: do not waste your time or money here.

Took the Metro from our Latin Quarter hotel, which brought us with about 50 ft of the front door. My daughter and I both chose selections from the Ernest Menu. Every dish was superb, and the service was over the top. Beautiful, elegant setting. In my opinion, a great value. I have certainly paid more for less in the US! Highly recommended!

Le Dôme Café has a classic charm and delivers on some key points. The oysters were excellent—fresh, briny, and beautifully presented. Service was highly professional, attentive without being intrusive. The sole, however, was just okay—well-cooked but lacking the finesse I expected. Prices are definitely on the high side, and while the atmosphere helps justify it a bit, the overall value feels slightly stretched. Worth a visit, but maybe more for the experience than the food alone.

Le Dôme is, without a doubt, one of the best historic brasseries in Paris—elegant, timeless, and entirely focused on seafood. The fish is impeccably fresh, perfectly cooked, and always the star of the plate. Classic service, white tablecloths, and that old-school Parisian charm you can’t fake. It’s not trendy, it’s not trying to impress—it’s just excellent. A must for anyone who loves seafood and wants to experience a true piece of Parisian culinary history.

Can’t really fault le Dôme, excellent attentive service, fresh oysters, beautifully cooked John Dory to share, creamy dessert, all in a stylish classic interior. Not cheap, but worth the money.

Our last day in Paris so we decided to visit for lunch. Our waiter was an absolute gentleman who helped me through my very poor French. A delightful chap who enhanced our experience. The food was marvellous. We started with oysters from Brittany. My wife had the catch of the day which she loved. I had the Dos de cabillaud avec persillade et pomme puree. Wonderful dish. Perfectly cooked. Would definitely visit again when next in Paris.

I am in Paris on a business trip and my colleagues and me wanted to eat Bouillabaisse. I chose this restaurant based on the reviews and to be honest it was a total hit. The place is very warm decorated and cozy. From the very beginning, even though unfortunately none of us spoke French, they made us feel at home. The cuisine is absolutely delicious: the dishes we tried were of the highest quality, and the service is fantastic. A special thanks to the waiter Toma who served us tonight, very kind and professional, who made possible that everyone’s wishes have been fulfilled, even those outside the menu. You can’t ask for more. I would definitely come back next time I will be in Paris and will recommend this fabulous place to all my friends. Thank you for this beautiful evening!!!
