Great experience with family. Came here for lunch and the staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, you honestly can’t go wrong with the dishes served here. I would recommend the beet salad and the tuna tartare. The brussel sprouts weren’t bad either; not my favorite but still worth a try. Other honorable mentions include the chicken stir fry and green curry shrimp. Drink picture is the Lychee Martini, also very good.

Even though the place was packed, the staff quickly found space for us on the patio and served drinks and appetizers while we waited for our dinner table. The patio runs its own tab, so we carried our drinks over once our table was ready. The bar itself is pretty small, with a few seats taken by guests waiting for takeout orders.
Once seated, our servers were outstanding—attentive, friendly, and happy to chat about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on, and every dish we tried was fantastic. The whole red snapper, in particular, was absolutely incredible. They even packed our leftovers with extra care so everything stayed fresh.
Overall, a truly memorable dining experience! They just need to add a few more vegetarian options, and I’m sure I will be back soon.

You have to check out Le Colonial, Lake Forest! It’s a hidden gem that totally blows your mind. Food was incredible (we had tuna tartar, pork roll, soup, and salad)! Everything was perfectly balanced and delicious.
What I liked the most was the ambiance… I loved all the settings and the decor inside. You would look around and each corner would surprise you with a different feeling! I highly recommend Le Colonial for a high quality meal and an unforgettable experience. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

This is a must try place. We went on a Monday and there was plenty of street parking. The place gets very busy so definitely recommend a reservation. The bar area is a super cool vibe if you’re just game for a drink.

This is a special occasion restaurant for sure, but one that can be really worth it. I’d recommend a reservation, but just for drinks, you can get a seat at the bar rather easily. While the food is excellent, the portions are quite small for some dishes. So rather than having a whole meal there, I prefer to go for the cocktails and appetizers, which are always excellent. Their lychee martini is my favorite in all of Chicagoland!

Just good, not great. We ordered the chicken and cabbage salad, pork ribs, shaking beef, fried rice and Brussel sprouts. Everything was good, but my biggest issue was the temperature inconsistency.
For the appetizer, the ribs were lukewarm. Salad was yummy but I’m wondering if that caused the ribs to be served late.
For the main dish, the rice and Brussels were piping hot but the shaking beef was room temperature. Really unfortunate since the beef was supposed to be the main course.
The cocktails were delicious, I would come back for their happy hour and only get drinks + small bites. It doesn’t look like they handle meat well.
Not that we ever expect a “freebie” but the birthday treat was very sad… a candle + a chocolate wafer. I’d almost rather we got nothing.
For context, we went on a Thursday evening, after the dinner rush.

Had a great experience at Le Coloniel in Lake Forest. We had the duck which comes with sticky coconut rice and bao buns and also had the steak. They were both amazing (especially the steak!!). The steak sauce had a tiny kick to it and was insanely delicious. Beyond flavorful. For dessert we had the creme bruele which is also a must. Great place, many tables, great service, and excellent food. Will be coming back again!

Been fortunate enough to have been here twice, both with great experiences. I love their family style approach to the dining experience. Both of these visits were with coworkers, The restaurant is decorated perfectly to the menu and experience they want you to feel. Their staff and servers are top notch. They treat you well and any of them will help answer questions even if it’s not their table. True professionals. The food has so much flavor! I have a hard time narrowing down what I would recommend. The red snapper is amazing. Their curry dishes are delicious. I loved a steak salad sort of dish this last time I went. We had to order two servings of it for the table. This is a higher end restaurant, so you will pay accordingly, but it’s worth it. My one complaint would be their cocktails. I think they are presented well, but haven’t tasted anything that was really any good. So maybe save a few pennies and stick to a good bottle of wine or water. I would definitely recommend Le Colonial to anyone looking for a nice dinner.

The service was excellent. Standout dishes included the crispy pork & shrimp rolls, yellowfin tuna tartare, and the spicy shrimp stir-fry. Each one was creative, well executed, and flavorful. The Japanese eggplant and rau xao were less memorable. The lychee martini and crème brûlée were solid, though fairly standard.
