Social Profile:

Upscale destination for refined regional cuisine, with a weekly menu featuring seasonal specialties.

An amazing evening here at Le Cheverny. Staff was very friendly, even though they had some trouble with english, our waiter tried his best and there were no real troubles communicating. We had the 8 course tasting menu. Beautifully plated, well constructed plates. Not too big but when we reached the last course we had definitely had enough to eat. (Go carefull on the bread, it’s delicious but quite filling). The flavors weren’t always the obvious choice, but worked very well with the course which made it a surprising and exciting experience. I’d definitely recommend this place! It’s not very cheap, but for a special night out (or just when you want to spend a bit) I’d say it’s the perfect place to eat here in Limoges.

A small suggestion for the restaurant, we would have liked to have had the check at the table, makes discussing tips and stuff easier, and adds a little fancy touch to the end to an unforgettable evening!

Once again, thanks for the amazing stay!

We’ve had the pleasure of dining at Le Cheverny on several occasions and it’s fair to say each has been a delight. However, lunch yesterday was truly exceptional. We were there celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a better place to mark such an occasion.

As we’ve come to expect, the welcome and service was flawless. The decor is tastefully stylish and classy without being lavish and one feels very comfortable and relaxed in this setting. The generous table spacing is particularly favourable because there’s nothing worse than feeling like one must constantly whisper or to be drowned out by their fellow diners.

After a tasty amuse-bouche, I chose “Les Saint-Jacques Melba” for entré….. four perfectly seared and rather enormous scallops served on petite melba toasts along with a silky-smooth Comté cauliflower cream, veal vinaigrette and trout eggs. Mr H opted for “Les gambas flambées au Panazo”…. four giant flambéd prawns complimented by crushed tomatoes and a swirl of homemade spaghetti.

For main, I devoured the “Tournedos Rossini”…. melt-in-the-mouth Limousin beef tenderloin with pan-fried duck foie gras and veal jus whilst ‘H’ savoured the “Entrecôte de bœuf de Coutancie”, again, that divine tender race of Limousin beef that when cooked to the perfecting standards of Le Cheverny is, simply put, second to none. A day after the event and Mr H is still trying to get his head around exactly how that rendered fat cushioning his steak literally dissolved on his tongue. I imagine a most deserved and cherished secret belonging only to Le Cheverny’s chef !

Last, though by no means least, came dessert. We were both seduced by the description of “Le New York cheesecake”…. with notes of lime, coconut dacquoise, whipped vanilla ganache, exotic fruits and guava sorbet and which tasted every bit as good as it sounded. But wait…. did I just say last? Naughty me! One mustn’t neglect to mention the two minature chocolate cups (tasting akin to a luxury Rolo) and encasing a lit candle along with a “bon anniversaire de mariage” bestowed upon us by our super-professional and friendly waiter. Way to go to conclude this superlative feasting!

Le Cheverny….. we salute you and we’ll definitely be back!!!!

Great food and wonderful service. We also enjoyed the interior decor. Most French restaurants I’ve been to are on the smaller side but this one was rather large which I appreciated.

I just had one of the best meals I’ve had in France in 3 months! Very popular place, almost full on a Tuesday evening! My hotel recommended it. Limousin Kir (has a chestnut in it), very fine amuse-bouche, nicely-done steak, vegetables with a red cabbage puree (no, really good!) and a pear dessert. Beautiful surroundings and the service staff was excellent. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I visited Limoges on our way to Toulouse and called in unannounced at Le Cheverny. We had the most incredible meal, the staff were brilliant and we wish we had time to stay longer. We highly recommend everything about this wonderful restaurant!

As a coeliac I struggle to find restaurants that understand and can offer me a choice, but Le Cheverny offered me several options and did so with a smile. Absolutely amazing food, exceptional service and lovely atmosphere I will definitely be returning!

The food was variable but the service was bad. Vegetarian starters arrived with ham on, we ordered swordfish and got sole (€6 more) and wrong deserts arrived. Ordered steak off English menu @€36.50 and got charged €40 as priced on French menu! Food also arrived cold. Clumsy staff dropping cutlery etc and one even hitting the back of my head when he passed.
Over all mediocre food, bad service and over priced.
