Spent New Year’s Eve dinner here. The food was spectacular and the service was even better. The Pithivier was easily the best I’ve ever had. Also the cod cheek nugget with petrossian caviar was over the top in the best way. Allison the bartender was awesome. Got the champagne and the milk punch. Le Chene definitely makes you feel like you’re transported to France from the west village. Would highly recommend

Just get the pithiviers with pork and eel when you come. This dish is truly delicious and decadent. The beet root ketchup might sound a bit strange but goes so well with it and totally brightens up the dish. We got the rack of veal for a whopping $155, but it’s such a skip. Not very tender, not very flavorful just sheer disappointment. Also do not get the bread pudding ish dessert with fruit. It was disgusting… out of all the great French desserts I dont know why anyone would serve this. The giant apple chunks were soggy and mealy. The rest of the dessert was also a soggy flour mess… zero texture. Maybe we didn’t choose well but there is one dish worth going for here.

Le Chêne is hands-down my favorite restaurant in all of New York — every visit just reinforces why. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed not as a customer, but as a guest whose delight is the top priority.
The entire staff is incredibly talented, warm, and passionate. At the bar, Allison crafts some of the best cocktails and absinthe in the city. Ronan, the co-owner, has curated the space so thoughtfully — from the lighting to the blowfish wine decanters — and his hospitality makes every guest feel special. Co-owner Chef Alexia Duchêne, brings creativity and precision to every dish; their pithivier of pork and smoked eel is unforgettable.
Simon and the wine team are equally amazing, guiding guests through an impressive yet approachable list. Every time I leave, I’m already planning my next visit. The food, the people, and the energy make Le Chêne a true gem — elevated but never pretentious.

A very stated dining room with subtle comfort made us unprepared for a creative menu constructed by an extremely talented chef. We enjoyed the squash beignets and uni French toast, the melon salad (using cantaloupe, a unique change of the norm), scallops (phenomenal with the mushroom accompaniment), and some of the best fries I’ve had in NYC. The ribeye was a little disappointing: overly priced, well-prepared but not well-served. It was saturated with jus and pre-sliced so the meat lost much of its heat; again the mushroom pairing was fantastic, but I wouldn’t recommend this dish especially at the price point.
Speaking of price point: the sommelier immediately pushed champagne at us in an almost fumbling way, which for the cost per glass would’ve been a waste since the cocktails were exquisite. The bartender expertly prepared their house drinks, but also made the best martini: super chilled, perfectly balanced, and aptly served. At the end of our meal, the sommelier pushed their honey wine, which again was not worth the price point considering we could’ve enjoyed more colorful digestifs.
With all that said, the staff were pleasantly attentive even though our server didn’t really want to be there, he still managed to do his job. Le Chêne needs work at the front of the house, but the talent in the kitchen is spot on

The food was delicate and well balanced. French cuisine can feel a bit heavy for me at times, but the flavors here were just right.
Truffles were in season, so we added them to the beef tartare, which was quite special. And of course, we got to try their signature pork pastry dish, DIVINE!
It’s expensive, but both the food and the service are more than worth it for a special occasion.

Le Chêne is exceptional, classic French with a modern and creative touch. Each dish feels comforting yet refined, showcasing beautiful ingredients and thoughtful execution. The space itself is elegant and inviting, with thoughtfully curated artwork and a timeless design that create a sense of calm and beauty right in the heart of the neighborhood. Meals unfold at a refreshingly unhurried pace, inviting you to slow down and truly savor.
The wine list is expertly curated, perfectly complementing the menu while offering plenty to explore on its own. Service is warm, attentive and effortlessly professional. This is the kind of place that makes an ordinary night feel quietly special.

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is cozy, and I feel like I’m in Paris, with such a warm and welcoming staff. The cocktails are amazing, especially the cornichon martini — one of my favorites! Thanks again ✨

Le Chêne has quickly become a household favorite in the few months they have been open. Alexia offers technical, precise and delicious updates of French classics including rarely seen dishes such as Pithivier. The menu has constantly evolved to highlight the best of the market/season. Ronan and Simon oversee one of the premier wine lists in NYC and offer unique pours by the glass. No detail has been overlooked. The warm hospitality from the entire staff has made Le Chêne a home away from home.

Sue me but I think this spot is kinda overhyped. Is it good? Yeah def it’s yummy and niche/thoughtful tasting but for the price I’m not so sure it’s worth it. I give them props for the chef being a young woman and there’s cool art in there but it’s like performative wealthy person art lol. When the waiter read off the specials I felt like i was in the Superbowl and my QB was reading the game winning play. the pressure to process and remember everything was through the roof. Honestly I felt like if it were the Superbowl I would have fumbled what could have been a clutch moment because that is just so much to process at once. But ya you can go somewhere else with equally good food for less money. au revoir

I have to give 5 Stars all over because this Place is just perfect. The Space, the service! and of course the food is just amazing. For me this place is France and NY in one combined, a nice date spot but also fun for friends! Thank you. Every time we come it’s an experience and we love it!
