Le Caviste is the perfect spot if you’re looking for an intimate, authentic wine bar experience. It’s a smaller venue with about 7–8 tables, but they are spaced well enough that you can actually have a conversation without feeling like you’re part of the table next to you.
The Highlights:
• The Food: Everything was delicious, but the fish was a standout. They also offer a very well-curated cheese selection that pairs perfectly with their wines.
• The Menu: Keep in mind there are no physical menus here! You’ll need to look at the blackboard to see the daily offerings, which adds to the charm.
• Late Night Vibes: It’s one of the few quality spots in the area that stays open from 9:00 PM until midnight, making it a reliable choice for a late-night drink and a bite.
Overall, it’s a great place to sit down, chat, and enjoy a slow evening. Highly recommended for a low-key but high-quality night out.

This place is a vibe. Properly is like stepping into a Parisian wine bar. Fantastic wine selection, direct for small producers. Some amazing grower champagnes. Very fine cheeses. Not overly expensive. Great, knowledgeable service, what’s not to like?

A friend recommended this place and she couldn’t have said it better…it has all the right things! Great vibe, amazing selection of French wines and personable service. My friend and I sat at the bar and had a great experience. David was charming and funny…we could feel that he loves what he does. Can’t wait to go back when we’re in town again.
Highly recommend!!

If you like wine this the BEST place in Seattle. Great wine by the glass – seat back, relax and let them cheese for you (dad joke, so what )

Le Caviste is a treasure in downtown Seattle catering to French wine lovers from casual to obsessed. Über casual and tiny, the ambience is energetic but intimate, and the wine choices are exceptional.

Traveling to Seattle, did not expect a French -inspired location of this caliber! The staff knows their food and they know their wine, they made great recommendations all around. The venue is small and intimate, it really works, gives a warm Bordeaux bistro feel. Food, A+ (try the poisson en papillote), wine A+.

The feel is one an authentic French Bistro in Paris. Intimate place with table close together and bar seating. There is also outside seating. Large selection of wines that the staff is very knowledgeable about. Serves are attentive and sweet. The menu is on a chalk and they offer great suggestions so ask away. Service is fast. It is a popular place and on weekends can be hard to find a seat. Loved their mushroom dish. The smoked was OK but the salade with goat cheese is great. Lots of French bread! Nice find in downtown Seattle. Open very late.

Update 11/25: Stellar! One of the best wine bars anywhere. Just great. Every glass of wine is super drinkable, well priced, and delicious. So easy to drink. The list is well curated. I had the duck which is a must. I had the meat plate with jambon and chicken pate that was superb.
Excellent food. Excellent wine. Excellent service. Le Caviste is a true gem in Seattle’s or any city’s wine bar scene! It the spot everyone needs thats downstairs and a few doors down from your apartment.
On a recent business trip from NYC, I was staying at the Hyatt Regency, I discovered this fantastic spot and it’s now a must-visit. Everything, from the excellent food and wine to the impeccable service from Lauren, made for a memorable experience.
The Poissin en papillote is an absolute standout — simple, fresh, and incredibly delicious, especially for just $20. The steak tartare was good with superb quality beef.
I’m already plotting my next visit with coworkers so we can explore more of their extensive cheese selection. Le Caviste consistently delivers; keep up the great work! See you again!

After discovering this place during our last visit to Seattle, it was on our must visit list for this trip, and it did not disappoint! The small plates were fantastic, and love the availability of wines by the glass and bottle – all French – including all 10 Cru Beaujolais. The pairing of our wine with the poisson en papillote was fantastic, but it was the fourme d’ambert (blue) cheese with Breton Butter and Ratafia de Champenois that stole the show.
Go here and let Dave and his wonderful team make recommendations and take care of you. You will not regret it.

This place is a gem! Fabulous wine and outstanding French culinary delicacies in downtown Seattle. By total chance we walked past this place and saw some cartons of French wine in the window. We came back to try it out and were totally not disappointed. The host David and his wonderful staff were brilliant. Between us we tried 8 wines from all over France by the very generous glass. ALL were absolutely delicious. David’s skill in choosing all these wonderful wines and importing them is outstanding. And the food offerings were extraordinary. Duck prosciutto was unbelievable and the goat cheese sublime. All very reasonably priced. We are from Australia on holiday in Seattle and this was our best experience in the city.
