When I returned th following week Friday 23/1 with my Francophile sister & partner there was a different waiter in much more casual attire, he was friendly but my partner felt pressured into ordering an unlisted ‘special’ that was disappointing & not really what he wanted at all. The waiter (didn’t catch his name) took down the menu on post-it notes but this didn’t seem to result in organised service . The traditional French breakfast bowl was amazing, but the rest of the coffee order was delayed & we asked after the coffee when he returned for the breakfast plates, then had to remind him of the rest of the order (twice). The whole encounter was protracted over an hour. I would have left without the drinks, but I’d talked up the pistacchio coffee to my sister visiting from out-of-town & she was keen to wait & didn’t think a takaway cup would do justice to the pistacchio cream. The order was accurate when it eventually arrived, but the delay between my coffee arriving, then the espresso for my partner was inexplicable – it would have been much more enjoyable if the hot drinks could arrive together.
I haven’t decided yet if I’ll return for another try – the food is amazing, esepcially the ratatouille but the service seems highly variable & really affects the quality of the dining experience.
Great food, better service…. just what we need.
Straight onto my favourites list for Newy.
