Finally had a chance to try Le Bouchon after it being on our list for quite some time and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. This quaint French bistro is known for their escargot, French onions soup, mussels, and steak tartare although after sampling a few other things on the menu it feels as though they should be known for their entire menu.
Reservations are required outside of the limited seating at the bar. If you don’t have a reservation better plan on lining up before 5.

The only thing my friends and I enjoyed is the foie gras and escargot. Very tender and bread toasted perfectly. Also got the onion soup, duck a with foie gras and the trout. Too savory if you know what I mean. Overwhelmed by the ingredients and texture. But service is super friendly and welcoming. Very tight space especially when it gets late. Hard to chat with friends.

We had such a mesmerizing time at Le Bouchon. We didn’t have a reservation but we were able to get seated at the bar. Great selection of drinks and the onion soup was to die for!! I had the steak and frites…so delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

Super cute and intimate cafe featuring french cuisine. The staff was great and tenured. Our server had been there 10 years! We popped in without a reservation, I was shocked they were fully booked at noon on a Monday, but luckily the bar was first come first serve and open. There are only 6 seats so this could have not gone my way. The food was great and I’ll be back for a bigger meal. The french onion soup was delightful, well prepared and left me full. Monday is 1/2 price wine but sadly, I couldn’t partake as I was heading back to the office. Can’t wait to visit again.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over how delicious everything was. This restaurant is so little and cute like being in your French grandmas house. It’s sooo homey and the entire staff is so kind. I will absolutely be coming back again and again. 10/10 experience!

I visited Le Bouchon in Chicago’s Bucktown and was charmed by the cozy, Paris-style bistro vibe with friendly staff and a wood-trimmed dining room that truly felt like an evening in Lyon. I tried classic French onion soup, escargot, moules à la provençale and steak frites—all were flavorful and well-executed, though I felt the steak au poivre was a bit heavy on sauce and some dishes lacked seasoning balance. The escargot and mussels stood out as the highlights, rich and buttery, while the steak was solid but not exceptional. Overall, it was delicious comfort-food with authentic bistro flair and a couple of minor quirks.
