There was a happy hour menu until 6pm. We were able to order our drinks by then. House chardonnay and draft beers were good. I would not recommend house merlot.
We ordered kebob, grilled trout, fettucine alfredo, fried chicken sandwich, and Cuban sandwich. All of them were decent but nothing stood out as “OMG this is so good”. Most of the dish were on salty side. Especially, the alfredo sauce was way too salty for us. The only thing stood out to me was garilc baked potato that came as a side to my grilled stout. That one definitely drew everyone’s attention to try.
Booster and high chairs were available for children and the host provided crayons and coloring sheet for my babies, which I appreciated very much.
Even though the experience was pleasant, I don’t see myself coming back here, especially with the new food and beverage tax in Fairfax County kicking in 2026.
Yes, Lazy Dog is a chain restaurant. Very American sports bar with a tinge of rural wilderness. But the atmosphere is modern, family-friendly, and homely. And the food is a step above your regular pub grub, with lunch combos, happy hour, and late-night specialties.
Can recommend at any hour. And bring your dog!
We ordered a mix of things and most of the dishes were very good:
• Hot Honey Feta Dip : Creamy and flavorful with the right sweet-spicy kick. Great with the toasted bread.
• Chicken Lettuce Wraps : Fresh, crunchy, and seasoned nicely.
• Mediterranean Chicken Bowl : Balanced, hearty, and felt like a good lighter meal option.
• Tikka Masala Meatballs : One of the highlights. The sauce had great flavor and the meatballs were tender.
• Tomato Soup : Smooth, rich, and comforting. Tasted homemade.
• S’more Brownie Sundae : ice cream Flavor was good, but the brownie itself was very hard (would’ve been perfect if it was softer/warm and gooey).
we appreciated how welcoming they were to our dog.
Overall: Great relaxing spot with good food and a cozy patio. We’ll definitely be back, just hope the brownie comes out softer next time.
Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar in Virginia was the perfect spot to celebrate my niece’s 30th birthday dinner with family, and the experience from start to finish was warm, comfortable, and memorable.
The atmosphere is one of the biggest highlights. If you enjoy low lighting, cozy seating, and a relaxed lodge-style vibe, this is absolutely the place for you. The space feels inviting and comfortable — ideal for family dinners, date nights, or special occasions where you want to actually enjoy the moment without feeling rushed.
The menu is extensive, almost to the point of being overwhelming — but in a good way. There truly is something for everyone, whether you’re craving comfort food, lighter options, or shareable plates. Lazy Dog is known for its scratch kitchen, using made-from-scratch recipes inspired by global comfort flavors, which really shows in the quality and taste.
Everything came out hot, fresh, and well-seasoned — the perfect way to kick off a celebration dinner.
Another great touch is that Lazy Dog is known for being dog-friendly, with many locations offering pet-friendly patios and even dog menus, which speaks to their welcoming, community-focused brand. It’s a restaurant that feels thoughtfully designed for comfort, connection, and good food.
Overall, this was a great dining experience with excellent ambiance, a diverse menu, and solid food quality. I’ll definitely be back to visit again soon and look forward to trying more items from their menu.
If you’re searching for casual dining in Virginia, cozy restaurants with low lighting, family-friendly celebration spots, or places with a large menu and great appetizers, Lazy Dog Restaurant is a strong choice.

The s’mores dessert was not worth it. The brownie tasted horrible.
We tried the sangria sampler and the consensus was they were heavily watered down. The cocktails we tried lacked depth. We could accept this as mixology may not have been their strongest competencies. However, the food was equally disappointing except the bison burger.
What completely ruined our experience was the level of service. The server was visibly unenthusiastic to start with, which was understandable. However, her lack of attentiveness really peaked near the end. We waited a good 15 minutes before we started badgering other servers to get our check, all while she was chatting with other servers.
Needless to say, it is unlikely we’d ever visit Lazy Dog again.
