I tried this place for the first time on a weekend. The empenadas were tasty and the gentleman working behind the counter was nice. However, I don’t plan on returning here. The next day after eating these empenadas I had the runs really bad and it cleaned me out. Some of the meat or something else was old or not right with their food handling..

Lazo Empanadas is on a whole different level! The flavors are incredible you can taste the freshness and quality in every bite. The dough is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the fillings are packed with real, authentic Latino sabor. You can tell they put love and pride into their food. The staff is friendly, the service is fast, and the place has a great vibe. If you haven’t tried Lazo Empanadas yet, you’re missing out this is a must-try spot! Highly recommended

We just has Lazo’s cater a lunch for us at work, and it was delivered on time with great communication. But the best was eating it! Delicious variety of empanada’s and sauces!!

Girl with the glasses working there needs better people skills. She looks and acts like she’s miserable. $6 for a small mediocre tasting empanada doesn’t help their cause either

Delicious, flaky, cheesy. The chimichurti made me regret ever buying it from TJs. Service was amazing–the girl running it alone was cheerful and quick.

So good! I’ve tried a few different flavors of Lazo’s empanadas and they’re delicious. The crust is delicate and perfectly flaky every time. They’ve got a few dessert empanadas, too, that are definitely worth trying.

I fell in love with this place immediately, the empanadas were fresh, hot, and flavorful, made me feel like I was right by the beach where I first had my first empanada. I was very impressed by their flavors and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to bring the beach side home.these were by far the the most flavorful empanadas I’ve had. They definitely made me feel like I was right back in south beach Florida enjoying them by the waves. Highly recommend! Staff was also very friendly 🙂

While the empanadas are tasty sometimes they sit for periods of time and are not fresh. Lazo Empanadas recently changed the portion sizes significantly and increased the cost of their food which was why I am leaving this review. It’s $6.50 for one empanada that is the size of a pierogie.
If they owners weren’t so greedy and money hungry they likely would have kept me as a customer. It’s truly unfortunate that they have done this. You can find better portions and prices at other empanadas restaurants locally in the area.
Pictures for comparison…

The location is fantastic, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend Lazo Empanadas. For nearly $20 (including tip), I received three tiny empanadas that were burnt around the edges, which completely ruined the flavor.
Here are three key issues to consider:
1. High price, small portion: The cost was steep for the amount of food provided.
2. Burnt empanadas: The quality was disappointing, with the burnt edges overpowering the flavor.
3. Tax-inclusive tip calculation: They calculate the tip based on the total, including tax, which is misleading because tip should be based on service and food quality, not tax.
While the location at Edgewater Public Market is great, I don’t see Lazo Empanadas measuring up to the other excellent options there. For $20, I expected much better value and quality. Sadly, I won’t be returning.

$16 after tip for 2 tiny little empanadas, that were pretty burnt, a teardrop of chimichurri sauce, and a can of coke. Honestly felt like a rip-off and got scammed. Plenty of nearby spots offer better value for the same price—or less.
