The food was so authentic the first Afghan restaurant I’ve been to with such lovely and genuinely connecting owners. They were incredibly welcoming and even offered free fish and drinks! I will definitely come again with my parents and recommend to friend and family!!
And bonus the had fresh afghan naan!!!
Since it’s new, it was quite busy and many people were coming in, so they had to put some tables together, but the atmosphere was still great.
Between a few visits with friends and family, followed by yesterday’s experience catering food from them, I can now say that I have tried every single item on their menu – from bolani and aushak to borani and all the vegetarian options, from karhai and nihari to all of their minced and chunk kabob options with variations of beef, chicken, and lamb, one more delicious than the other. You cannot go wrong no matter what you order! Do try their large, hot-off-the-tandoor Kandahari naan and chai with anything you order, and their special kheer/firni (dessert) in a small claypot (matka). Don’t miss their brown, white, green, and red chutneys/sauces with the kabobs. Also, check out all the great catering packages on their website. Great value!
To me, what makes this place extra special is their service. I have found the staff to be very friendly, understanding, and accommodating, and always open to special requests. You will experience this precious culture of warmth and hospitality in every interaction. At least that was my experience in all my visits. Special shout-out to Yousuf who works the counter and is always willing to go the extra mile with a smile. I hope they soon expand into a banquet hall to accommodate small, private events.
Absolutely amazing experience at Laziz Kabob! The food was full of authentic Afghan flavor and cooked to perfection. The fish was tender and seasoned beautifully, the chicken curry was rich and comforting, and the lamb and beef kabobs were juicy, smoky, and incredibly flavorful. Every bite showed real care and quality.
And you cannot skip the Afghan lassi — refreshing, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal.
A huge thank you to YOUSAF KHAN, the owner, for being such a kind, welcoming, and amazing person. His hospitality truly makes Laziz Kabob feel special and worth coming back to again and again. Highly recommended! ️
The hospitality from the owner was genuinely heartwarming. He helped us select the perfect amount of food for four people.
Truly a must-visit place!
The food was phenomenal; the chicken platter was massive, with perfectly seasoned rice and the juiciest, most savory kebabs we’ve had in a long time.
To top it off, the fresh-made mango and mint lassis were easily the best we’ve ever tasted. Amazing food, even better service—we’ll definitely be back!”
**We were also offered complimentary Karak chai by the owner – amazing flavor!
The interior is bright and pretty and very clean, at least in front (didn’t go past the ordering counter). Long banquette down the side gives a lot of seating. Folks behind the counter were friendly and offered to carry the order to the car for me, although I declined (needed the weightlifting exercise ). Note that it does take 15 to 20 minutes for salmon and/or lamb kabobs.
The portions were massive and very generous on every item, particularly the red and meat and fish. Naan was enormous and soft and pillowy and delicious, with bits of char on the outside of some. Bolani was good. Hummus was smooth and bright and the side salad was good (some nice chopped cucumber and tomato in with the lettuce, all of it very fresh). Rice was nice and fluffy and yummy, with a few raisins and carrots mixed in. Salmon had a nice crispy skin outside and was not overcooked inside – and there was enough of it for two or three meals. What I thought was a pumpkin side on the veggie combo appetizer seemed to be large chunks of soft potato. Tasty on the inside but too spicy for me on the outside. Did not try the lamb that others in our party got, but they said it was too spicy for them. They had expected something like the lamb in the sweet qabili polow at the previous place, but that had unfortunately been unavailable to try the day of our order.
If you like spicy Afghan food, I think you’ll be happy. We were expecting most of it to be rather mild and it was not. Wasn’t burning-down-the-house spicy, where your forehead sweats, but it was significant. Had also asked for pumpkin sides with three of our four entrees dishes and ended up with chickpeas with all of those, which were (unfortunately for us) rather spicy compared to the mild, sweet sides we were expecting. Maybe they ran out of pumpkin? Had specifically asked for my own dish to be not spicy at all and it was still a bit spicy ☹️ In fact, almost everything we got was a lot spicier than expected. Much more so than the previous place, which had been very mild across the board.
So a replacement it is not, but it has its merits. Since I can’t eat spicy food much these days, I hate to ding them primarily on that but other Afghan food we’ve had – not just at the place that used to be here – has been a lot milder than this, with maybe one or two spicy sides. Just know before you go. If you are okay with spicy food and/or plan to eat a lot of naan, there is no way you’re going away hungry.
