What an awesome spot on the waterfront. Four of us in business stopped in for lunch and all had amazing sandwiches. I had the special for the day, a Pizza Grilled Cheese, it was epic. The side pasta salad was good too.

The Reubens (they offered several types and meat quantities) were amazing. We enjoyed the quarter pound meat ones as having perfect ratios. The smashed tots looked like a quilt and were delicious. We were sorry to have no room for dessert (Pumpkin Bread Pudding). The staff was attentive and the weather perfect for the outside patio with a view of the river.

On the 4th of July they stayed open till 9 pm, other than that they close after lunch. They are right by the boardwalk. Food is delicious and the place and bathroom are very clean. Dress is come-as-you-are. Staff is friendly and attentive. It is a bit pricey, but that’s what 5⭐️ will get you!

Sonya was truly exceptional from start to finish and we had a large group to say the least. We also met Paige who is one of the owners and was equally impressed with her vision and strategic forecast for this amazing restaurant. Such a charming little restaurant in the NC History Center with a beautiful view of the Trent River. One can even eat outside on the scenic patio. The staff was quite friendly and attentive (waitress refilled my drink three times). The menu is varied and food was delicious (the panini tots were awesome). I was impressed that the meat on the corned beef was so generous that it was divided and eaten by two people. A great place for a tasty lunch!

My husband and I ate at Lawson’s 2 weekends in a row, and we will definitely go back again. Our server both times was Tiffany, and she is wonderful. Tiffany always has a smile, great positive energy, and she is totally knowledgeable about the menu. The information she shares if you have a question is accurate and helpful! We have overheard Lawson’s other servers at other tables, and they all sound professional and excellent! The servers are the link between the guest and the kitchen and Lawson’s GETS the importance of this. It’s WIN-WIN for everyone.
I don’t know who their chef is, but their food is excellent! My husband is an annoyingly picky restaurant guest, and he loves Lawson’s. THAT is high praise coming from him.
The premises are clean and pleasant. Parking is free and just a few steps away from a pleasant, delicious experience. The bar drinks are excellent and eminently drinkable. They are perfect…not too strong and not weak.
Seating inside is comfortable and pleasant. Outside seating is gorgeous, peaceful and scenic.
The menu is amazingly reasonably priced, portions are more than ample, (I always have leftovers), and I wish we would save room for dessert, but so far we haven’t.
I highly recommend Grilled Cheese on Ciabatta, Beef Stroganoff Soup, Boar’s Head Hot Dogs (they SNAP‼️), French Fries (REAL Potatoes), Cowboy Cavier (ask for the recipe), Sour Cream & Dill Potato Salad and Deli Sandwiches. Lawson’s just celebrated 4 years serving their delicious food in New Bern, and I wish them decades more success! I highly recommend!!!

Lawson’s is named after a notable historic figure that was important to the town. This is a hidden gem with good food and even better views as it sits right on the water with outdoor tables. I had the pimento cheese on Rye and the pasta salad. Both were fresh, light, and solid choices. The salad and Ruben were also recommended by my party. I love that the Pepsi bottles give the nod to being the founding town. I didn’t have time to come back and try the soup of the day but heard from several locals that you can never go wrong getting that. In a town where you have to find street parking, it was nice to have such a great local restaurant on the water with a parking lot! After eating, head into the gift shop at the attached Tryon Palace visitors center. There are lots of neat gifts there.

Very nice little place for a quick bite to eat if you’re in downtown New Bern. They have a good selection of sandwiches and subs and also drinks. Beautiful experience sitting outside on the patio and enjoying the view. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place 5stars
