It’s a small place which isn’t a issue just remember if your wanting to go for a family thing with more than a couple people. The kitchen area is within feet from the tables, which was neat to see. Waitress was okay. She was nice but I don’t feel she did enough to fix the issue we had. I ordered the ooy gooy burger. By the sound of it I thought mmm messy with peanut butter. I will attach picture to show. It also said cheese optional I said I wanted cheddar cheese. My husband wanted the breakfast burger without mayo. We oder a beer which we rarely do but craved one with our burgers. We drink our first beer and our food arrives. I forgot to mention we was the only people in there so should have been no mess up with the food. Two simple orders. I get mine and notice I don’t have any cheese. Not a big deal so I asked for a piece of cheese to put on it. She said I’m so sorry the cook went to the bathroom. So as we wait my husband opens his burger and on the bacon and eggs was a glob of mayo. He said um I ordered no mayo. The waitress apologized again and said as soon as he gets out I will get it fixed. She asked if we wanted another beer and we said okay. Being the only people in there it’s crazy both our meals came out wrong. So a while goes by cook comes out she tells him he made them wrong and brings them back again. Mine was not gooy or ooy at all as you will see in pix. It tasted good but had it been gooy with peanut butter like it is called it would of been amazing. My husband opened his and you can clearly see he wiped off the mayo changed the top bun and left mayo on the egg and some bacon. My husband told the lady I see where he changed the bun and left the mayo. I will eat it cause I’m hungry but it shouldn’t be like that paying so much for a meal. Check comes waitress says I took off a beer for your trouble…that’s right on a 60 dollar bill of two hamburgers 2 frys and 2 beers she took off a beer. Don’t think we will be coming back here. But I am on the hunt for a ooy gooy burger and will let you know when I find that one that’s perfectly gooy by leaving them a review. So follow me if you want to find out.
The featured burger is 1/2 pound; a little more than we wanted for lunch. So, we went with the 1/4 pound platter: burger, fries and cole slaw. So glad we made this selection. The burger was the perfect size and we had ours topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo. Talk about a perfect burger!!! This was absolutely delicious and oh so juicy. I think I used 6 napkins.
The cole slaw was just as good. Not too sweet and not too tangy. Just perfect.
This also came with a large helping of some of the best fries I’ve had in a long time. They were long and thinly cut with what appeared to be a light coating, and they were fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and light/tender on the inside. And hot, too. No cold fries in this place.
We started talking with another couple at the table next to ours. They were just passing through town, heading back home to Wisconsin, after spending time in Gatlinburg and stopped by on a whim. They decided to try a hometown place versus a fast food burger stop. They were just finishing their meal as we ordered ours. They had the same positive comments about their meal that we had as we took our first bites.
This is definitely on our list of places to visit again when we return to southern Indiana.
(We were told by the server that the Sloppy Joe is a favorite. We may have to try that on the next visit, although it would be very difficult to pass up the burger platter.)
I wanted a burger and I got a burger. Bit high on price but I saw it was all made to order and really good.
