Social Profile:

At Lawrence Barbecue, we’ve always believed that good food and good people go hand in hand. That’s why you’ll notice our menu prices look a little different. Instead of tacking on a service charge or relying on tips to make wages work, we’ve baked a revenue share percentage right into every plate of barbecue. What does that mean…? It means that when you eat here, you’re taking care of more than just your appetite. You’re helping take care of the people who make this place what it is. We want our crew to head home with dignity, balance, and enough in their pocket to live their lives. We want them to cook their own dinner, tuck their kids in at night, or just put their feet up after a long shift without worrying about making ends meet.

The brisket was SO DANG GOOD
My wife and I have been trying to find good spots to eat and this is definitely one of them. We got a smash burger and brisket sando. We also ordered 1/2 dozen oysters. The oysters were a bit smaller than other places we order from but they had good flavor. The pickled jalapeños and onions are so delicious too.

Really happy to see this exciting new restaurant open in downtown Cary! Such a cool spot and the building they used was rehabilitated in what looks like a thoughtful and well-done way. There was a nice area for our family to wait to be seated, but it wasn’t a big area so other people waiting were standing around with nowhere to go and watching the diners eating, not great. Maybe a reservation system could help this, I really don’t know, but right now on a busy weekend night, you can expect a wait. If the weather is good, there is a nice outdoor area with more seating so that will be nice.

The food is really nice, they take BBQ further than most places with really neat combinations and ingredients for tacos or sandwiches. Or, you can get the BBQ alone. I agree with some other reviewers that I’d like to see a thicker sauce offered, something more KC style, there were several east Carolina thin sauces, how about one thicker one for people from the Midwest! Some of the meat I got had too much fat for me, and also I got a bite of super hard burnt pork that was a bad surprise in my mouth. I’d like a little more selectiveness from the person selecting the meat for my plate. Other than these things, the BBQ is very good.

My 9 year old loved the double decker grilled cheese, like a lot! We tried some tacos and I think that was my favorite of everything we tried. My teenage daughter had mac and cheese and said it was amazing, she is a tough critic so must be very good.

Suggestions for improvement would be to consider how to deal with a lot of people coming (good problem to have), a vestibule would be really nice (I was getting a cold draft frequently during dinner when the door would be opened), sound reduction panels in dining area, and possibly not seating 5 people at a table that is really for 4, even with a small kid, it was too crowded for our family and uncomfortable.

We will be back, I really want this restaurant to be successful and a longtime establishment in downtown Cary!

My husband and and I love BBQ and can’t believe we didn’t know about this place sooner! Came for lunch on a saturday afternoon and was seated right away. They have a drink station and a spot to get your sauces, but there was a waiter that came to take our order. My husband and I shared the leisure lord sampler platter and ordered the brisket, pork belly burnt ends with sides of mac and cheese and thru deviled egg potato salad. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. The brisket was tender and so delicious. I loved all the dipping sauces they had. The pork belly burnt ends had a yummy, tangy sauce on top. The sides were a great size and both tasted great. It was all the perfect amount for my husband and I to share. The waited checked in with us often to make sure we were good. My husband and I enjoyed this spot and will definitely come back!

Such a great first experience with the team at Lawrence Barbecue. From fixing the online ordering system for me to providing me with extra wings, extra utensils, sauces, etc. The staff at this establishment were all so eager to ensure a positive experience for my family and I. We ordered the family platter, leisure platter, extra wings, and the ceviche. All delicious. Highly recommend the dry rub for the wings. The brisket was super tender and flavorful. Ceviche serving was small, but excellent. Sides were all yummy. My favorite was the collard greens! So impressed and so happy to have such a great place for tasty barbecue in DT Cary. Thank you Lawrence BBQ!

A great first visit to Lawrence Barbecue’s new location! I tried the pork belly burnt ends, mac & cheese, and sweet & spicy collard greens, and everything was really good – their New York cheesecake is delicious as well. Also want to shoutout my server, LaShanda, who was so kind and attentive the entire time. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m not even a big BBQ person, but this place is so good. We ordered brisket, ribs, and hot honey wings to-go and finished everything in one sitting—nothing was dry, and the ribs were fall-off-the-bone perfect. We went back to dine in and tried some non-BBQ items like the birria tacos, shrimp, and burgers, and everything was just as tasty. I love the variety on the menu—it sets this place apart from typical BBQ spots. This is now our go-to, especially when friends or family are visiting and we’re in a BBQ-craving mood. Great service and super friendly people.

Love Lawerence! I loved the Boxyard location so when they moved I knew I had to make my way to Cary! The new location is spacious and the menu has a lot more options (all delicious). Besides the awesome food and atmosphere the team behind Lawerence is just top tier. I am happy to support a business who does so much for our community.

This place is the best food I’ve had since moving to North Carolina! The Mac and cheese was my favorite part of the whole show! But of course their bbq was delicious, and what I loved that everything was self serve so it was easy to add what sauces you wanted. My favorite sauce to pair with everything was the cheer wine bbq sauce. It was delicious and paired perfect with my brisket sando. I will definetly be going back and making this our staple lunch/dinner spot

We loved Lawrence BBQ when they were located at Boxyard RTP and were beyond thrilled when we found out they were opening a brick and mortar in Cary just minutes from our house. We finally got to check out the new location tonight and it exceeded our expectations!! From the minute we walked in the door, the staff was warm and welcoming. We had about a 30 minute wait (which for a Friday night wasn’t bad at all). When we were seated we were served very quickly. Our waiter was beyond amazing! A medical emergency occurred while we were there and the staff handled it with the upmost respect. As far as the food goes everything was a 10/10. We ordered both the raw and bbq oysters and as someone who grew up on the coast of NC, I feel confident in saying these were some of the best oysters I’ve ever had (which is saying a lot!). I would go back just for those. The brisket tots were amazing and we loved our platter. That mac and cheese is what dreams are made of. The brisket is the best you’ll get in NC and the pulled pork was my boyfriend’s favorite. We are so excited to have Lawrence BBQ in town and cant wait to make it a frequent visit!

Place is Legit! Went here for lunch and had the pulled pork. It was excellent, nicely smoked and tender. Slaw was good and the mac and cheese. Actually the tots were incredibly good as well. Servers were really nice and attentive. They also have a full bar there, with a darn good smoked old fashioned. The place is open, so it’s pretty loud when crowded, but some good sized tables for larger parties.
