Wow! A lovely neighborhood restaurant. The food and service were outstanding. We had drinks and appetizers at the bar. (Catch their Happy Hour specials 5-7) Sat at a table for our meal which was delicious. The staff was extremely accommodating as we arrived with no reservations( highly recommended for the weekend) Must haves: cornbread, Mac and cheese, chicken sandwich! The double cheeseburger was also outstanding. Very accommodating to food restrictions. Lots of gluten free options.

My first visit to Laura Lee’s and I will be back. Overall four stars because the portion size for the price was very petite. I started out with the oyster appetizer and though it’s only enough for one person, it was delicious and seasoned to perfection for me. I did request that they fry them to a crunch. My main course was the crab and cheese grits and, again, it didn’t disappoint in taste. I was not happy with the portion of the crabcakes. It was more like an appetizer size for $28. The grits were smooth and creamy with just a hint of cheese. Overall, great experience.

Pros: Nice ambiance, beautiful presentation, interesting cocktails, the Plate appetizer was really great (especially the pickled carrots and fish dip), service was just the right level of attentiveness. Cons: My $38 steak was chewy and a bit dry (homemade A-1 was good). Cornbread appetizer was great texture but flavorless. Semicircular seats were not very comfortable or conducive to conversation.
Overall, at the prices I paid I just wasn’t blown away by anything I ate. Bummer because the service, presentation and atmosphere were enjoyable. I’d consider coming back for lunch or drinks, but I’d probably skip dinner.

The food was super fresh and delicious! I definitely recommend the burger and the steak and eggs. Service was a little slow, but I will definitely be back!

Seated in Laura Lees’s rear garden surrounded by fireflies we enjoyed a magical dining experience. Very dry gin martinis accompanied by fried oysters, pasta bolognese jumbo crab cakes made the experience. An unpretentious Forest Park gem not to be missed.

Cute place but it’s a bit out of nowhere. It was quiet when we went at a weeknight. Only two tables were dining there.
The service is great, the waiter is very patient and friendly. The food is good but not great. I had the seared scallops, the scallops are big but I don’t get why it sits on the bowl of soup, and the soup is also too salty. I might come back to try other dishes, the menu looks pretty interesting.

We had a wonderful, first time visit. The restaurant is quaint and relaxing; a great place to imbibe and enjoy a delicious meal. Rated one of the top 15 restaurants in Richmond. As you walk in you will immediately notice a spacious mirrored bar area w food being served as well as drinks. The main dining continues in an equally airy, yet intimate dining area in the adjacent room. I thought the tufted half mooned booths and the wall of garage door-like windows was chic. Their menu is varied, offering interesting appetizers and a good selection of entrées, ranging from seafood & steaks to sandwiches. I chose the catfish sandwich with a delicious light, fresh salad as my side. The fried catfish was lightly battered which highlighted the tender, mild taste of the fish. I don’t remember having catfish that wasn’t fishy or a sandwich so pleasant. Kudos to the chef. Returns visit brought raves for the Po’Boy & Mac, Caesar Salad w fried chicken added, and chicken salad w greens.

I recently had a fantastic girls’ dinner at Laura Lee’s and I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and vibrant yet relaxed—perfect for a night out with friends. The bar area is great for pre-dinner drinks, and the separate dining area offers a cozy, more intimate feel.
The service was impeccable. Our server was friendly, attentive, and really helped guide us through the menu, which made the whole experience even better.
Speaking of drinks, their cocktail and mocktail menu is definitely worth trying. We all enjoyed a few rounds of both, and everything was fresh and expertly made—definitely some of the best we’ve had in Richmond.
As for the food, we kicked things off with the mussels, and they were absolutely delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the crispy bread on the side was the perfect touch for soaking up every bit of it. Everything we had was fresh and perfectly prepared.
Overall, Laura Lee’s is a must-visit for a relaxed, stylish night out. Between the service, drinks, and food, it’s clear they’ve nailed the balance of great ambiance and quality dining. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful local restaurant with a diverse menu. We went for dinner with our son and daughter-in-law. Our choices for drinks and dinner were all very diverse and everyone enjoyed their fare. I had swordfish in harissa sauce which was a new way for me to enjoy swordfish. Dessert was also delicious!
