So glad to have got off the motorway and found this charming restaurant completely by chance in beautiful little village. A lovely hostess made our family feel very welcome.
The menu is small but the food is very fresh , excellent quality and absolutely delicious. Every morsel eaten and enjoyed. Overall a very pleasant and memorable lunch.

Very bad restaurant. The food was horrible, the waiter smelled like beer and the hostess was very unfriendly. The first evening we were send away because they did not have enough food for the next day, ridiculous. When we tried again, we had to wait 15 minutes before we could get a table while the whole terrace was empty. The duck had too much fat and you pay too much for what you get. Restaurant is definitely not the correct term for this place!!!

This charmingly situated & picturesque setting should have been the perfect venue for an evening family meal. We did wonder why it was so empty, when we arrived, as when we booked we’d been given the impression it would be stowed out. Half the menu (already limited & lacklustre) was not available at 7pm & the manager was patronising & intrusive. (tbh Shockingly inapropriate & rude. No complaints about the other staff, who we felt sorry for. We left without eating ) One can’t help wondering what on earth is going on with this place. Our advice, give it a very wide berth till it is taken over by someone else.

The owners here are so friendly and welcoming, obviously speaking several languages. Food is simple, freshly cooked and of ample portions. We go here each time we come to France to visit family and are always assured of a warm welcome.

Lovely location by the river and campsite. Open when we went out of season and we had a really lovely meal and evening. Hosts were brilliant. Gargilesse Dampierre well worth a visit and whilst you are there drop into the Auberge.
