Small menu which means really good consistent food. I always get dessert and every time I’m impressed at how yummy it is. They used to be a pastry shop so I’m not surprised that their bread and desserts are that good. The hostess and owner is always really nice and makes good suggestions for food and pairings. One of my favorite places in cedar rapids.

One of the few outstanding restaurants in Cedar Rapids. This is not “fine dining”, but French comfort food of the highest quality. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The service is friendly and personable. The menu is reasonably priced. In the dozens of times I dined at L’auberge, I have never had a less than excellent experience. Reservations strongly advised. Highly recommended.

Food and service here are impeccable. Wonderful French cuisine that tastes great, has good portion sizes, and the price is very reasonable for the quality of food you receive. The owner and front of house manager goes out of her way to make customers feel at home in her beautiful restaurant and the wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive.

I went here with my 9 year old daughter, who was excited by the concept of a French restaurant, and then was unsure when she saw there wasn’t any “kid” food like she normally finds. We ordered a mini quiche appetizer and split the entree special (shrimp ravioli), which was AMAZING! Then we tried the walnut cake (gluten free) & profiteroles, which were also so delicious. She loved it too! We had some leftovers, but the portions were well sized, not overwhelmingly large, but not too small either. Service is also great, as others mentioned. I can’t wait to go back.

I have never had french food until trying it at Croissant Du Jour Cedar Rapids. I’d say I just loved it. We went for an early lunch around 11:15. The place was starting to get full and yeah if you are planning to go for lunch don’t bother after 2pm.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The menu is small but, amazing. Recipes are delicious and very accessible . The quality of ingredients is notch. Atmosphere, cozy and inviting. Staff and owners are lovely and warm. Best meal I have had in a long time. We will be back for sure!

Cozy neighborhood French cafe. Delicious food! — Each dish is made from scratch in this family owned cafe. At some point between friends, family and myself, we’ve enjoyed every thing on the menu. If you’re too full for dessert, take one home; you’ll be glad you did. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is attentive without being invasive. Prices range from $16 Beef Burgundy to $30 Beef Tenderloin; I’d say their reasonable/moderate. I love them!

Downright the best beef tenderloin I’ve ever had. Every course was amazing, love the wine and atmosphere. The owner was amazing about our child being there and it will be my new place for special dinners!

This restaurant is now CLOSED. Very disappointed because the food was phenomenal!! They are supposedly coming back in the fall with a “French dinner concept” but I’m not holding out a lot of hope. For one thing, they were always busy and had fantastic soups, paninis, and pastries. They used to have a fancy dinner every now and then which required reservations and was very expensive. If they move to this new concept, I have a feeling they won’t do that well as it will put off a lot of people that can’t afford it. Also weird that they put a sign out that they were going on their annual summer vacation and then the day they came back they announced they were closed. Seems like they knew ahead of time to me, and it makes me wonder what happened. Why close a successful business??

I had the lunch special. Soup was novel, but a little bland. The baguette wasn’t stale, but it certainly didn’t taste fresh and was also a little bland even for white bread. They did keep my friend’s plain coffee filled and my Cappuccino was not bad with a healthy/correct head of foam – I just felt the espresso within was a little weak. It might do in a pinch, I was in Cedar Rapids after all, but I’d happily choose something else next time. Also the pastries looked too good to taste good, and in my experience it’s always one or the other so I didn’t touch them.
