Horchata came first, asked for a glass of water that I received eventually. The rice was so-so. I’ve cooked at a Mexican restaurant and have made better rice. The beans were good; full of flavor. Could have had more pico and guac, it was okay. Would prefer if they used queso fresco on the beans. Yellow cheese is traditionally not part of the variety of authentic, what most people enjoy is mostly Tex-Mex style food.
My carne asada was good, cooked a little longer than I would prefer. It came with three tortillas, which was enough for the portion I had. Usually 4 tortillas is a safe bet.
The horchata was $3.99 and it came in a 20 oz cup. Smooth beverage.
I think they have a good thing going for them. Their prices are definitely alright. I have to try their tacos.
They could improve on some things. The vibe of the building is kind of cookie cutter. They do the food well enough to make me want to try something new. If they could do something about the harsh lighting that would make the place feel more welcoming.
Bienvenidos a Stanwood!
The service was excellent, prices were very reasonable, and the food was full of flavor. Be sure to ask for the hotter version of their house-made hot sauce—it’s fantastic!
So glad to have a fresh new dining option in Stanwood. Highly recommend giving Latino’s a try!
Christian and his family have absolutely knocked it out of the park!
First, the food:
We had birria tacos, arroz con pollo, and tortilla soup for take out. Despite it being take out, the food was piping hot and fresh when we opened it. Everything was packaged in nice aluminum pans with paper covers, with the name of the dish written on top. The soup was in a sturdy plastic container, and the accessories to the soup came in a stout plastic container.
First, the tacos! Let me say that I’ve had birria tacos all over the West Coast and down in BCS, MX. THESE ARE THE BEST BIRRIA TACOS I’VE EVER HAD. They were completely stuffed with meat and cheese, and the dipping sauce was perfect – not too spicy, but had a great zing to them.
The arroz con pollo was amazing! Ample rice, tons of tender mushrooms and chicken, all smothered in melty cheese. Served with a couple tortillas, this was perfect in every way.
The tortilla soup is as close as you’ll get to traditional in the area. It is not just chicken broth, pico, and a few chunks of chicken – it’s a wonderful red soup that has just a note of spice. The chicken, avocado, and cheese that came with it was all perfect.
The service:
Christian and his family are SO NICE. They were extremely attentive, friendly, and provided an elevated experience. Even though we had take out, they still chatted with us, offered water, and talked about how excited they were to be open. It’s worth noting that from the time we walked in to the time we walked out with our food was only about 10 minutes – exactly enough time to prepare everything fresh (no steam table chicken here).
The atmosphere:
Great remodel! It is very clean, modern, and inviting. Even where I could see into the kitchen was super clean as well.
Go give this food a try and support an amazing small business and their family – you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back.
One thing to note: they do not serve beer/wine/alcohol. Perhaps they are waiting for their permit? You can always grab your food to go and go next door to Brewcade!
We were here again today with a group of 5 and had another tasty meal of steak and chicken fajitas as well as asada steak from the lunch menu. It’s a really good amount of food at a great price. We will definitely keep coming back!
Thank you so much
