I ate here last night with my daughter and her boyfriend. It has a very unique island vibe. Lots of decor. The staff was friendly. One of the owners was around in the dinning area talking to customers the entire time we were there. The food was good. I lived in Venezuela years ago. It was great to see a number of traditional meals.

First time coming here and originally from South Florida and I gotta say the South Florida vibes are on point!! Just like being back home!

We arrived around 5pm and there was plenty of parking and places to sit. At first I was confused because you order your food at the counter and then grab a seat, after doing so I really like this set up. Makes everything much easier really.

After grabbing our seat we just absorbed everything about the place. The atmosphere here gets 10 stars!! Its comfortable but lively all in the same, just like a few places on the beach back in South Florida or even in the Caribbean. Really awesome vibes!

The service, staff and owner are all amazing and extremely welcoming. I can see this as a great place to hang out at, have a few drinks and digest some live music.

Now for the food, every bit of authenticity in Latin food! We plan to go back and try more of the menu but everything was absolutely delicious. From the presentation to the taste, everything was completely spot on. Make sure you try a margarita or mojito when you go!

Food, service, and atmosphere were amazing! As soon as I entered, I was transported to my favorite tropical island, Aruba. The food and service were amazing! To top all of this off, the owner began talking with my friend and I and we ended up sitting and talking with him about our travels, food, and life until one in the morning! It was an amazing night! He and his family are amazing and treated us like family! You will not be disappointed!

The place was beautiful, very tropical, order in the front and then sit. The drinks were great especially I had a request with a juice with jalapeños and the bar keeper did a great job.

The Arepas were good but there was kind of an umami missing. I was there with a Venezuelan friend and he said they were good but did not have the home kick.

I trying it for the first time was very impressed.

I love the tropical theme and was drawn in by the palm trees. Unfortunately the decor was the best part. The place was empty. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait for food but decided to try it anyway. We ordered chips and salsa for the wait but had to wait for that too. It appeared the woman at the front desk was also the server. When it arrived it was in a small basket and the salsa in a shallow saucer. I asked for more but was told that was the last of it. They were out. And I had to practically beg for ice in my drink. She said they were almost out and saving for mixed drinks instead. When my food finally arrived, the chicken was dry and tasted charred. Not that there was much of it. All 3 could fit in one hand. Luckily another employee stopped by to ask how things were and brought me a sauce to help wet it. My husband wanted to order from the bar but couldn’t talk with the bartender as the woman at the front was taking those orders too. So he just had water. I am guessing from other reviews that this isn’t the normal. Just our bad luck.

What a fun little hidden gem! We went for the first time tonight. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed to “The Island”….and we certainly felt like we were transported out of Dayton to a tropical island. From the music, to the decor, to the drinks (one of the best mojitos in the area!), to the delicious authentic food, it was a wonderful experience. And what topped it off was our conversations with the owner, Abraham, who was so pleasant and welcoming, and spent so much time walking around speaking with all of the guests. It was evident that he had such passion and pride in his business…and rightfully so. Such a wonderful place! We will be back again (probably many times)!

What a great little place. Really fun atmosphere between the decor and live music. It felt like Key West/Island vibe. The food was terrific. I got the steak arepa(highly recommend) , my wife and I got the Loaded Nachos for 2 to share, and she got the chicken rice bowl. We will be back for sure.

We came here after it was recommended to us and were excited to try it, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing.
When we arrived, one employee told us the wait for food would be about 40 minutes. A few minutes later it was changed to about an hour, which we were completely fine with. We ordered the steak arepa (decent size, no sides, $14), Tradewind tacos (super small, street taco size, $14), and pastelitos (2 small meat pockets, $6), along with a mango margarita and a caipirinha. Our total came to around $70 with tip.
After ordering, we sat and waited nearly 45 minutes just to receive our drinks. During that time we weren’t offered water, chips, or anything else while we waited. It appeared there were only two employees running food orders, making drinks, and operating the register, while the owner spent time showing liquor bottles to a couple sitting at the bar instead of helping the staff. The bar area also didn’t seem to be functioning for making drinks.
When the drinks finally arrived, they were also disappointing. The mango margarita was extremely sour and tasted mostly like lime juice. The caipirinha had an entire lime muddled into it but with the peel removed, which turned the drink into mostly pulp and made it difficult to drink. It also wasn’t anything close to a traditional caipirinha.
After getting our drinks, we waited another 30 minutes before any food arrived, meaning it took about 1 hour and 15 minutes total. The pastelitos didn’t come out until about five minutes after the rest of the food.
The food itself was very basic Latin food and nothing particularly memorable. The arepa was chewy from being over fried, and overall the dishes felt like items that should have been able to come out fairly quickly.
The restaurant is also fairly small with roughly 10 to 15 tables, so it wasn’t a situation where they were dealing with a massive crowd.
To make matters worse, one of the servers was openly complaining about another table being upset about their wait time because other order numbers were being served before them. We experienced the same issue ourselves, watching people who ordered well after us receive drinks before we did. The couple behind us in line didn’t even receive their chips and salsa until after we got our drinks, meaning they waited close to an hour just for chips.
Overall, between the long wait times, poor drink quality, and average food, the experience didn’t live up to the recommendation.
