Later Alligator is a such a gem! We stop here on roadtrips from the Baltimore/DC area to my family home in Ohio, and it’s always a fantastic time!! From the historic decor to the beautifully welcoming sentiments posted around the restaurant, it always feels like a cross between going on an adventure and being welcomed home.
The drinks and food menu are extensive and everything tastes fresh, fantastic, and like it was made with care. The service has always been kind and attentive, and the sense of humor infused through the building and the staff makes this play a joy to stop at !

I’ve been coming here for about five years, and it’s still one of my favorite places to go in Wheeling. It’s a unique spot with great service and delicious food. Their curry sauce is one of the best I’ve ever had. I usually get the Over-the-Edge tacos, but honestly, everything on the menu is good.

The restaurant has a great vibe and really cool décor. They also have outdoor seating, and it’s a great place whether you’re dining in or taking food to go—I’ve done both, and it’s always a great experience. Even the bathroom is decorated in a fun and unique way, with license plates from all over the country. I’ve added some pictures so you can check it out!

We all had a different crepe but sadly I didn’t get other pictures. I had the Blueberry Hill, and it was phenomenal. My friend really enjoyed the Lox crepe. We also enjoyed the focaccia and potato salad. The atmosphere is so adorable and unique. Even my 1 year old enjoyed this restaurant!

My initial impression of the restaurant wasn’t great, but it grew on me a little. When I entered, it took a while to get seated, and the interior felt somewhat small. However, the unique decor was definitely a positive aspect.

I ordered a lemon drop cocktail, but it had very little alcohol and tasted more like water—so I didn’t order a second one. For my entrée, I chose the Wallie because of the many options available. I was thoroughly impressed and ended up finishing the entire dish.

It was a fantastic recommendation from my waitress.

The food here is yummy. Everything I’ve tried has been great. Crazy variety of unique sandwiches, wraps, salads and sweet and savory crepes.
It is a small establishment with limited seating for a Very popular place. It is popular because it is very good. I just bought a home in the area and will be a regular here.
Parties of 2 can get in pretty much right away.
Groups of 3-4 may have a wait. Parties of 5+ need a reservation.
When you check in be sure to let them know if you are willing to eat outside on the back patio it may shorten your wait.
Our party of 3 waited 70 min last time because we wanted indoors. At 30 min they offered back patio but we wanted inside. They said if they had known they might have been able to seat some parties ahead of us outside.
Previously we had no or short waits.

This was a great find on the first night of our weekend in Wheeling – it might be one of the best dinners I’ve had. There was a bit of a wait to get in, but down the street was a little Friday evening festival so we spent the time listening to the music and window shopping. My husband and I split 2 savory crepes (the Crepe Escape, and the Crepe Shoot) and one sweet crepe (Blueberry Hill). I would be hard pressed to pick between the two crepes, the flavors on both were amazing. For the sweet Crepe we substituted honey instead of maple syrup because I am not a maple fan – it was absolutely amazing. The whipped cream was not too sweet and was a great compliment to the brie and blueberries. Delicious.
We will definitely be back!

Later alligator was recommended by the people of wheeling very highly.
I appreciate the FB Group “what’s happening around wheeling.” I mentioned I was visiting from Arizona and wanted to highlight a few restaurants loved by the locals.
Cindy was our waitress, and she was amazing to experience. Knowledgeable, kind, and personable are just a few ways to describe her service.
The food was very delicious, and the presentation was great. I invite you to look at the menu and expect reasonable prices and great food.

Went for lunch hour was seated quickly the service was very slow took about 12-15 minutes just to be waited on.

Then about another 10-15 minutes for drinks.

First time coming here heard a lot of great things maybe it was just a bad day.

Food wasn’t anything special would give it another try for hopefully a better experience.

Pricing is a little high $6 for a coffee everything else on the menu is $15 or above.

For a small business I get it I would imagine it’s not cheap to be there and prices on food has gone up.

Overall I give it a 3.5 out of 5 experience.

Would try again.

The Later Alligator restaurant is very cozy. The food was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly. They have a great menu to look through. The restaurant is decorated with city’s rich steel industry history. It is worth it to go in the restaurant and eat while you explore and experience the industrial history of Wheeling.
