A huge shout-out to Scott, the chef – 10/10 the food was outstanding. Everything was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with care and skill. You can really tell when a kitchen takes pride in its work, and that definitely shows here.
Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish. Incredible food, fantastic service, and a great team all around. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic French café vibes done right.
The atmosphere is warm and authentic, with many French staff and patrons adding to the charm.
The artisan pastries and desserts are truly delightful — rich in flavor and beautifully crafted. The coffee leans on the stronger side, which may not suit everyone, but it complements the French style well.
A lovely spot for anyone seeking an authentic taste of France.
After we ordered, a guy with light brown curly hair asked us if we needed any wine. My friend is pregnant, so we replied that we didn’t need any wine. Suddenly, he complained about why we were seated there if we weren’t having any wine. We were upset because a staff member had checked with her manager before seating us there.
When the lady who served us initially came to give us our food, we told her about the situation. She immediately apologized on his behalf and made us feel comfortable. A few minutes later, the manager came to apologize for his behavior, and other staff members came to check on us and see if we needed anything else.
Despite that one rude staff member, the rest of the team was very professional and made the restaurant feel cozy. Their service recovery was very quick, and we ended up having a great lunch in a good atmosphere thanks to their efforts. We strongly recommend this restaurant because most of the staff are very kind and friendly, and the food is very good at reasonable prices.
We would especially like to express our gratitude to the lady who served us initially and solved the problem immediately. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch her name, but she mentioned she is from the Philippines. She was very kind, friendly, and had a beautiful smile. Thank you to the team for making us happy during our visit.
The food is exceptional fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour. Scott the chef clearly brings passion and skill to every dish, and it shows. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick coffee or settling in for a long, relaxed lunch, everything feels thoughtfully crafted and effortlessly delicious. The cheese selection is unmatched, easily the best range of French cheeses in New Zealand, complemented by incredible charcuterie, mustards.
What really elevates this place is the atmosphere and the team. Friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming, they make every visit feel personal and memorable. If you’re in Auckland and want to experience the true charm of France, L’Atelier du Fromage is an absolute must-visit.
We had the best lunch here today. The fact that it was booked out with people still coming and going showed how popular it is.
Great menu witnessed daily specials too. Heaps of gourmet items on sale within the store.
The staff were fabulous and I truly enjoyed conversing en francais with them.
Highly recommended!
Sadly something has changed, and most definitely not for the better.
My usual order is a croque monsieur and coffee. The order I received was a food travesty. The sliver of ham in the sandwich was so thin as to be transparent, the underside of the sandwich had not been filly toasted. If there was any cheese inside I doubt if it was Gruyère. The final insult was the side salad, what used to be served in a small bowl has been downsized to a ramekin which now contains 10 baby spinach leaves.
Bitterly disappointed
