Last night, four of us had dinner at Lassen Steakhouse in Vina, CA. I was genuinely looking forward to finally eating here, as I’ve driven past the place for years. Our reservations were for 5:30 PM, and when we arrived, the restaurant was bustling. Despite the crowd, we were promptly seated, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit.

Our server quickly brought bread and took our drink orders. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari sticks and fried prawns. The calamari was excellent—crispy and flavorful—but the prawns were unfortunately overcooked.

For my main course, I had the clam chowder and the 12 oz ribeye steak with red mashed potatoes. The chowder looked delicious, but it was barely warm when served, which made it less enjoyable. The steak arrived soon after; I had ordered it medium rare, but it came out closer to medium well. The mashed potatoes were average—fine, but nothing special.

Overall, while the food didn’t quite meet my expectations, the service stood out. The staff remained upbeat, smiling, and attentive even with a full dining room. Lassen Steakhouse has a welcoming atmosphere, and I can see why locals like it, but based on this visit, the food fell short of what I had hoped for.

OMG FANTATSIC!

Came here for our 5th yr Anniversary and the experience was great! They opened at 4 and we got there at 4:40 and they sat us right away with no reservations! We beat the crowd because it got busy busy right at 5:30! Specials were 12 or 16oz prime rib with whiskey shrimp or 40oz tomahawk ribeye so we got 1 each!! Prime rib was super good and tender! And the tomahawk was well worth the money!! $65!! Can’t beat it! Food was so good! Entrees Come with salads plus 2 additional sides and bread for they table! Drinks drinks where great and good pricing! Atmosphere was good until 6ish! Started to get loud but we were done by then and leaving! Highly recommended the buffalo cauliflower bites too! And our waitress Morgan was very sweet and on top of making sure we were happy! Morgan rocks!! Good job Lassen steakhouse! We will be back again!

Side note- we were actually on our way to Chico to go to a different Steakhouse, last minute my wife decided to try lassen steakhouse and didnt dissapoint!

First visit to Lassen Steakhouse. To the quick. We ordered the deep fried pickles appitizer. Nicely done, crispy but solid pickle inside. The starter sweet rolls were good, soft and nice flavor. We ordered the Filet Mignon and Fetuccini Alftedo w/shrimp. Enhanced the filet by adding grilled shrimp, mashed red potatoes and waiter was nice enough to add both choices of veggies: roasted carrots and asparagus w/parmesan cheese. Both came with a mixed-green side salad. The filet was prepared medium which I highly recommend. Pink inside but not rare and it’s better at medium as the flavor really comes out. The filet was tender and outstanding. The filet remained warm through the entire eaying. The veggies were perfect in texture and flavor. and the mashed red potatoes simple and not over done. The Fetuccini Alfredo was excellent, sauce was smooth, nice consistency, good flavor. Service was good and attentive. My two dings are 1) the clanking of plates and loud staff conversation by the kitchen. I would avoid sitting at tables near the service station/kitchen entry as the smacking of plates is ear piercing and 2) the payment folder containing our bill was coveted in oil and food from server hands. Looks like it hadn’t been cleaned in days.

I love this place and will die on the hill this is the best Steakhouse in the area!! I’ve celebrated my birthday, some holidays, and anniversary here I always tell people to take the drive for the food and atmosphere ! (Photos included) We got super lucky for our anniversary as it landed on the first thursday of the month and me and my boyfriend split the tomahawk and STILL had leftovers. I have never had a bad meal or experience here !!

The rolls were fresh. The clam chowder was good. I enjoyed that it had bacon in it. The fried pickle appetizer was pretty good. The steak was cooked just right and taste delicious. I wasn’t too fond of the asparagus. I loved the Brussels sprouts most of all (even over the steak!).

Are you looking for a BETTER steak house to visit, with better cuts of meat? Are you looking for a quiet, date-friendly establishment to have a fantastic meal? Look NO further than RIGHT HERE! Date night turned into finding this gem, and making it our go-to place for meat and ambiance, but make a reservation as it fills up rather quickly. We started off with 2 appetizers (fried pickles and mozzarella sticks) both fried to perfection. About 5 minutes after that, our salads arrived (spring mix, onions, cucumbers, croutons, cheese, and dressing). No more than 10 minutes after that….the main course. 2 24oz Ribeyes (both rare), asparagus spears, and baked potatoes (fully loaded, no extra charge). To say the cuts were generous would be an understatement, as they were HUGE, and cooked perfectly. The asparagus was seasoned and served like it should be…crisp and buttery. The baked potato came large, and included butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, and green onion…flawless!! The complimentary rolls were an added bonus, and although enjoyable, were a deterrent from the dinner…which was difficult to finish. We did order dessert though, the Tiramasu and the Cheesecake. Again…both were extremely well prepared and served in appropriate sizes. The wife and I walked out stuffed yet happy, the service is outstanding, the waitstaff is attentive and well-trained, and the ENTIRE establishment is well worth a repeat visit. Better than anyplace that serves meat in Chico so far. Try it once, you’ll be a repeat customer as well. Simple!! ***Update***7-15-2023***Anniversary night for us, so a 2nd trip back, and it’s not what we expected… it’s BETTER!! The place was crowded, better appetizers, and the food was outstanding!! The clam chowder was spot-on with a little kick, the mozzarella sticks were perfectly cooked and oozing with plenty of cheese, the Burnt Ends were chewy and chock full of flavor with 3 dipping sauces, and the Prime Rib, with shrimp toppers, was better cooked than before. The service was phenomenal, with the owner coming to our table to wish us a Happy Anniversary. No room for dessert however, but it’ll be sooner than later before we go yet again. “6 STARS”

Best Rib eye steak I have ever had. Someone wrote review stated canned food? Say what????? this place ( I have been multiple times), provides the best cooking. Nothing tastes from a can. For the amazing experience and quality of food? I say the prices are spot on and I found it affordable and much better than any local steak house I have eaten at.

Hosting a milestone event can be stressful, but my experience at this gem was anything but! From the moment I spoke with the Wes, (the owner) I knew I was in good hands.

His warmth and genuine interest in making my party special were evident, and he graciously accommodated my schedule for an in-person meeting, considering I live in the Bay Area.

Together, we crafted a personalized menu that perfectly captured the essence of my celebration. Wes’s attention to detail and prompt communication via email made planning a breeze, ensuring that everything from the cake delivery to the day-of logistics was flawlessly executed.

The venue itself is a hidden oasis, with a stunning outdoor space that provided the ideal backdrop for my party. But the true star of the show was the food—each dish was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. My guests couldn’t stop raving about it!

If you’re looking for a venue that combines exceptional food, impeccable service, and a magical ambiance, look no further. Wes and his team are dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Trust me, your guests will thank you!

The hubs and I decided to check out the newly reopened Lassen Steakhouse. The hostess and our waitress were great. We started out with a drink and apps. The cucumber gimlet, fried pickles and Mac and cheese balls. The fried pickles were different then I’ve had other places, they were very thin spears and the pickle flavor was lost.
For dinner he got the 20 ounce rib eye and I got tge cod. I wasn’t very hungry, which was a good thing because the portions were small. The hubs enjoyed his steak and it was about half the price of a steak in Chico.
We’ll be back, but will probably ask to not be seated next to the bar in the future. Cowboy butts are great, just not my viewing preference while eating dinner.

$50 per plate for most. Steak was good, they put cheese on asparagus which was weird (did not taste good) they service was non excistant. Do not dress up! Even though they charge a lot, the place is not fancy or even nice inside. It’s like going to a roadhouse. We went for a birthday and the waiter asked the family behind us if they were celebrating something but weirdly did not ask us at all which was offputting.
