I wanted to sample all the Mexican restaurants in Winchester to find the best one. Las Trancas was the second. Didn’t see much point in trying any others because it was so good. Booths or tables. Well stocked bar. Cold beer. Varied menu without being overwhelming. They have nachos!. Chicken, beef, seafood and vegetarian options. Really good burritos. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy parking. Worth going back again and again

Excellent hidden gem in Frederick County. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. We tried the Chimmichangas for the first time and WOW they are amazing! You won’t leave here hungry and if you do, it’s your own fault! Highly recommend this eatery to all Mexican food lovers.

The restaurant is very nice and spacious. Food was definitely filling and enough to share for two. Got the veggie fajitas, paid like 17$. I like the variety of veggies but they were quite over salted. Aside from that, I enjoyed it. Staff was very nice and accomodating

Probably the best lunch I’ve had in a long, long time. I got the carnitas and they were cooked to perfection. They were so tender, juicy and still had the nice charred crispy ends to give it that much more flavor. They melted in my mouth. We got the chorizo dip, and it was so delicious. Our waitress was polite, patient and attentive. The restaurant was very clean and beautifully decorated. We are already discussing coming back .

The staff was very friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked until the moment we left. The food was possibly the best mexican food I’ve ever eaten in my life. We will definitely be frequenting this establishment. The place was very clean as well. Not a single complaint. Easily in the top 5 of places my wife and I have dined. One thing they did that we have never encountered is they had several choices of dips for the tortillas. We opted for the chorizo queso and we both loved it.

First off, we’re from the southwest so we do know what these foods are supposed to taste like. On the plus side, for those with disabilities, the restaurant is easy to get into, wide aisles, restrooms are one at a time so there’s plenty of room for a wheelchair. Food: I had the enchiladas verdes. They were stuffed with beef (but little seasoning). The best thing on the plate was the guacamole. I didn’t eat it all. Didn’t eat the rice at all. My husband had a combo plate with a chile relleno and beef taco. Way too much batter on a bland chile. He liked the taco. We probably won’t be returning. Food overall just too bland. Service was very good.

Chips and salsa was good. Soft Chicken Chimichanga, rice and beans was also good.

Good staple for huge diversity of Mexican food and cocktails. Service is always friendly; casual family atmosphere. Also surprisingly affordable, still!

This place is quite far away from me but I happened to end up in the area with my bike by the time it started to rain. I thought about going to Chic-fil-A and waiting out the rain. I changed my mind and went for TACOS! I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t read any reviews and just stopped by randomly feeling tacos. I got a seat right away with some chips and salsa soon to follow. The chips were warm – not cold and stale. I couldn’t decide on carne asada tacos or fish tacos and the waiter recommended definitely fish tacos so I heeded his advice. It wasn’t bad and satisfied my taco craving. I cannot say anything memorable about the decoration. It was dim and the lighting wasn’t great. Most staff other than my waiter looked like they were just going about another day at work. There was no interest or friendliness shown to customers. It was okay food and an average restaurant. That’s all I can say!

First off let me start by saying I am a server with 25+ years in the business. I really do give servers the benefit of the doubt. When I first walked in the host was the friendliest experience I received my entire time in this restaurant. The chips that were brought to my table we’re cold and greasy. The waitress when she finally came to the table had literally no personality whatsoever. just kind of a what do you want, kind of attitude. I gave my order and my food come out in a decent amount of time, brought to me by the host. That was the last time I seen anyone I did not get anyone coming back to the table to check on how my entree was, whether I needed a refill on my drink, NOTHING!!! The chips were crap, however, my entree was decent. The problem that I have is the service. It was literally one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant in years. I’m not gonna tell you whether to go here or not, I will say it’s a toss up for me, I will never, ever come back here.. EVER!! Stating previously I have MANY years in the service industry, I’ve never not tip, until today.
