I recently purchased some tortas and ordered a torta called ‘la vegana’ that should be made with a whole wheat pita bread but instead it was made with their original bolillo type bread… a family member of mine currently has dietary restrictions and since I found this on their menu I ordered it to follow such diet & come to find out they did not follow their own menu. I would’ve preferred for them to tell me they did not have the necessary ingredients instead of just given me what they pleased.
So to who ever has any type of dietary restriction please be aware of what they’ve served you.

I’ve been coming here for years, and I just noticed they’ve expanded the inside of the restaurant — it looks great! They have some of the best tortas in the RGV, always fresh and flavorful. You definitely need to come and try them! The salsas are delicious too, but be careful — sometimes they can be a little spicy! ️

First let me make this clear…what is a 5 star review. 5 stars means top notch…service, quality, taste, presentation etc. Not every establishment is 5 stars…so not getting 5 stars is not bad.
I found the tortas here to be par for the course. I honestly don’t even remember the specific torta I had ordered.
The pricing is good…nice place for people on a budget. The place feels very hole in the wall, and there isn’t much seating. It’s not a knock on the place…but an observation. They served us fideo as a small appetizer. I admit, the fideo had momma’s home cooked taste…but does fideo go with tortas as a complement? I honestly didn’t feel the connection, but it was tasty.
The torta itself…nothing popped. I believe I had the ternera. The bread had a nice crunch, the pulled pork wasn’t dry but was lacking flavor. It had house made mayo I believe but it didn’t draw my attention. What was the sandwich missing? Little more soul? A little more love? It was good…but just that.

The tortas here are pretty good, specifically the barda and portuguesa.
The salsas they have are delicious, the green sauce with pork rinds is delicious, the peanut salsa is very spicy but tasty, i love eating tortas with the carrots they have.
Their salad they make is amazing, I think the dressing has cilantro.
Overall a great place for Tortas, the prices are getting higher for the portion sizes.

POOR Hygiene…
I noticed the same person charging, cleaning then preparing an order by cutting tomato in her own hands.
I Never saw her wash her hands or at least wear gloves when she went to prepair the food.

Drive thru speaker not working. They could of put a sign pls pull up may take 15-30min. Food taste good but my sandwich had only half of the ingredients. 2 slices of ham, no beans 4 super thin slices of avocado, no strawberry in salad or cheese and a hot coke can. Been here before. This is the first time food and service was not on point.might just go the one in pharr even thou it’s farther away from me but the food there was done correctly and well served the last time I picked up from there

Tortas and drinks are great. Service? not so much but try it you will love the food. Be careful with the chicharron salsa and the peanut sauce. They super good but spicy, very spicy. Lentil soup is tasty. They have daily specials. They have improved, and now they have salads as option for combos. The bread they use is very good. 1aug2018
