“Food is great. Service is a crime scene.”
And look, I’m a white boy with about seven Spanish words in my inventory, and three of them are just different pronunciations of “taco.” So I walked in expecting confusion, stress, and possibly being launched into the sun.
Instead? The lady at the front was sweet, warm, and patient, even with my gringo accent out there doing its absolute worst. There was a little language barrier, but nothing dramatic. No sighs. No eye-rolls. No “sir… please stop pointing at the menu like it’s a hostage situation.”
Now the tacos de camarones:
They were really good. Like, actually good. Not “your client needs to calm down” good, but definitely “I’d order these again without hesitation” good. I’m just saying my client described them like they unlock inner peace and cure seasonal depression. They do not. But they absolutely slap.
Then I got a limón pepino aqua fresca, and listen… this thing was the main character. Cold, refreshing, perfect amount of tart, and somehow it tasted like hydration had a personality. It was so good I started mentally forgiving people who cut in line.
And then the lady comes out while I’m eating and says something like, “Want to try the fresh strawberry juice I just made?”
So obviously I said yes, because I’m not a monster. And yeah… it was incredible. Like “why is this not being sold in gallon jugs” incredible.
After tacos, I stared at the menu too long and made a reckless decision: dessert.
I ordered a sundae. I don’t think I’ve had a sundae in 15 years, and honestly, I forgot they could be that good. Presentation was great, ice cream was solid, fruit was fresh, and everything tasted like it was made by someone who actually wants you to be happy for once.
Customer service? Zero issues.
Maybe I got lucky. Maybe the internet is dramatic. Maybe I just showed up on the right day when nobody woke up choosing violence. Either way, it was smooth.
Food? Good.
Aqua fresca? Elite.
Sundae? Unexpectedly amazing.
And THEN… because life can’t let anyone enjoy nice things without a plot twist… I get into my car and my belt breaks as I’m sitting down. Just snapped. Like my body issued a formal statement saying:
“You have eaten enough joy for one day.”
So yeah, I ended up making an extra stop at Target for a replacement belt, walking through the store with the confidence of a man who absolutely did not just get humbled by tacos and ice cream.
Overall: highly recommend.
It’s unassuming from the outside, but absolutely worth the visit.
Go hungry. Get the shrimp tacos. Don’t skip the drinks.
And maybe wear pants that don’t rely on a belt for structural integrity.
This use to be one of my favorite places, but recently the food flavor went down and so did the customer service. Really disappointed my chilaquiles are super dry now. Get your old cook back
No one deserve their bad attitude.
