Reviews
The restaurant has a club/pop culture vibe to it- black painted walls with splatter paint, a strobe light and all kinds of 80’s pop culture stuff everywhere. I was amused by the look but that’s not why I’m leaving a bad review.
The food and service- yikes. I know restaurants can have bad nights but this was something else.
It took over 10 minutes for the bartender even to say hi and then she still didn’t get our drink order. We had to wait longer. We ordered 2 beers, a small guacamole and 2 entrees. I ordered the Arroz Texano and my friend ordered the Chimichanga Carne.
After about 20 minutes the guacamole came out. It was served with a tortilla cut in half and deep fried instead of chips- which would have been fine except the tortilla was very dark and tasted like it was fried in old oil. The guacamole had diced cucumber in it. That was not explained on the menu.
When our main dishes came- which took another 20 minutes, everything was cold.
Plates and food.
My rice dish was completely covered in this thick, white COLD sauce that tasted like bland, whipped cheese with sour cream. The rice was soggy and the proteins (chicken, beef and shrimp) were all overcooked. It was very unpleasant to eat. My friend’s chimichanga was the same- overcooked, cold and bland.
We ordered 2 shots of tequila- when the bartender asked us which brand we said well. It took another 10 minutes to get our order and by then I just wanted to go. We finished our drinks and waited- I don’t know, another 20-25
minutes before she came back over. It was a Friday evening, so I tried to be understanding but she had opportunities to come over. Honestly she needed another bartender or at least the manager to help out- especially at 7:40 on a Friday night. (Mind you, we walked in right at 6pm for an early dinner) My card was charged at almost 8pm.
She was not rude mind you- just completely indifferent and dismissive. My impression was that she was not an experienced bartender and was either covering someone’s shift or doesn’t care about tending bar.
When she finally came over, I was completely ready to go so I gave her my card to pay without looking over my bill. Ugh. She charged us for a large guacamole when we ordered a small, 2 premium tequilas instead of well and all of the items had weird extra surcharges without any explanation. So our small guacamole was priced $8.33 instead of $5, our entrees had extra charges, etc.
The next day, I made several attempts to reach out to the restaurant to explain what happened. The first time I called- when I asked if I could speak to someone about our experience, I straight up was hung up on. The woman who answered just hung up. I called again and it went straight to a voicemail that was full. I called again 2 hours later and again no answer. I decided to call using a different phone and this time the woman who answered listened to me and said that there was no manager there that day, (Saturday).
I asked if I could get the manager’s name and I would call tomorrow or could I leave my information and she said hold on and after about a minute hung up on me.
This was a wild experience that I just had to share with anyone curious about how this restaurant is run.
I gave 4 star to the atmosphere as I didn’t understand the music.
