I’ve lived here for seven years and never visited. It’s a ten minute walk from my house and I don’t drink & drive, so, I had hankering for Mexican food and some tequila drinks and tried them out. The food is very good, fresh and hot. Service, right on top of things and they played a lot of music I wasn’t familiar with which was great! A whole immersion into something different, a walk away from home. To push it, I could also say there is a mountain view across from Federal Avenue traffic sitting on the West side. I will be back, it’s a large and beautiful menu.

We came to Las Islitas after a quest for a good sit-down restaurant along Federal, drawn in by the signage and nearby shops.
The hostess was very friendly and seated is quickly. We were immediately intrigued and impressed by the hand-painted murals that cover the interior of the restaurant. There are scenes on each of the walls, all painted by hand and of impressive quality. This made for a unique and special dining experience, with plenty of conversation topics to choose from.
The menu was a bit intimidating, but that is to be expected with such a range of ingredients and dishes. We spent a bit of time going through the options before I settled on the seafood fajitas and my partner the beef burrito.
My dish came sizzling and popping as expected, and smelled delicious upon arrival. The server forgot the tortillas, but promptly brought them when requested. My partner’s burrito was generous and she was quite pleased with the flavor. She did not know that it came with rice and beans (this was not stated on the menu), so we ordered extra, but it worked out well as we just used them as dips for the complimentary chips (alongside a few orders of guacamole, which was fresh, delicious, and a tad spicy).
We would certainly come here again if we happen to be in the area. The prices were fair for the food, and we staff were very friendly.

Absolutely delicious. I tried 5 different tacos and each one was just as good as the last one. Highly recommend. All of the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was like I was back in Mexico. 100% recommended!!

The food looked nothing like the picture. The shrimp in the molcajete were tiny, and they weren’t cleaned.
The aguachiles were raw, there was not enough salsa.
It was disappointing. Gratuity was automatically added, it was 4 of us.

I am a regular customer and wherever I have order is really good. All the staff is friendly. Many locals claim to be the best restaurant around. Some times I enjoy a few oysters with a crown (corona) not in my head but in my hand) with some salsa (the spicy) not the music.

This place is amazing! The new owner has really changed this place for the better! The food and drinks are amazing and they are always coming up with new plates and drinks to try. If you are going to try this spot don’t forget to order the shrimp empanadas they are the best I can eat like 50 of them. Any dish or drink you order you won’t be disappointed! Definitely a must try spot!!
