Love the decorations, and the unique clay pot coffee mugs are very cute. The service was attentive.

Food was a mix.
The good part were – their tortillas were freshly made, very delicious, the Fajita was well cooked as well, the beans were very tasty as well.
The gap was the rice was flavorless. And the chips in the nachos were home made, but it was not fresh and some are over cooked, also, the source was only put on the top, the chicken in the nachos was overcooked so it was dry.

Coffee was very light – with brief taste of cinnamon – I would not recommend it, not because the cinnamon, because it tasted like water with cinnamon, not coffee.

I had no intention of giving this place a low rating but unfortunately I have to.

Let me first talk about what was good here. The ambience and ambience is really good. Very lovely hand made plates – really captured an essence like very few other place does. The presentation is also good.

I liked service as well. Food came in time and our server was lovely and very attentive.

However the idea of restaurant is food. And I really doubt that I will be returning. The fish and chips were poor. Very oily. I am being honest but the fries (chips) were the worst fries I ever had. Soggy oily and absolutely disgusting.

I came here on date and she wanted queso and chips. Since they didn’t had queso they melted cheese and brought that. Very bad idea, queso and melted cheese are not same thing. The cheese got solidified by the time it was served. Rule of thumb for any restaurant – if you serve an item, just refuse and say you don’t have that in menu. There is no need to go and extra way but get something disappointing.

The service was 5 star. Because we accidentally ordered more and the server mentioned that she can right the extra item off the check. However we decided to keep it and make it to go.

Now I am writing this review at 4 AM in night after dinner last evening. Why ? Because I have an upset stomach and it’s getting painful. I don’t think the food was hygienic. I hope I don’t get sick.

I respect their hot chocolate. It was good. The salsa bar is impressive too. But they need to improve the food standards.

I don’t recommend.

Although low lit the interior had a nice aesthetic. Liked the art and clay pottery. Waitress was slowly attentive. Started with frijoles puercos (pork beans) with chips. The bean dip was good, chips were stale. Liked their variety of salsas both in flavor and textures. Tried many, favorites were the cascabel (earthy and smokey) and the pineapple (roasted components with sweetness and not very spicy). Hubby got pozole rojo while I got menudo blanco. Both were underseasoned and not very complex. The intestines and feet were tender, fresh corn tortillas were better than the chips and were good for soaking up broth (once I added the herbs, onion, lime, and salt).

Exceptional! The salsas – what a variety and all of excellent flavor! Wow.

The tacos – outstanding.

I want to work my way through this entire menu.

The service is exceptional. The atmosphere is classic American Mexican restaurant.

Give Las Brasas Del VOLCAN a try. If you like big flavor Mexican food you’ll love this restaurant.

Also, there are inexpensive items to experiment with (tacos, etc.)

Some places I go to for the food, some for the chips and margaritas.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t go here for either.

Food was bland and unremarkable.
– Chips & Queso: nice dunkable queso but no flavor, convenience store quality chips
– Leo Burrito: mixed meat, notably with cheese. Not bad, but no complexity, just meat and cheese in a flour tortilla. Not juicy, no additional components. At least their salsa bar is decent.

– Margarita: bargain bin margarita mix with a light hint of low quality house tequila. This was particularly disappointing. No taste of fresh lime, just syrupy nothingness, a true sin of a marg. Would actively avoid their drink offerings based on this one alone.

Also, my goodness, after noting the things above, the prices are outrageous. Much better meals can be had locally for much less.

The Asada was delicious as soon as I tasted the steak I knew the tacos would hit.
The horchata couldve used some work, maybe have a few more meat options but with the menu already filled with all types of goodies I can’t really complain.

All food that my family and I have had are delicious! Also drinks from hot cholate, cinnamon tea , café de olla, aguas frescas and some drinks with alcohol are very good. Carne en su jugo is delicious! Home tortillas and also chips and beans are very good. It feels like real home made mexican food.

My fiancé and I love this place! I used to live in San Diego and miss good Mexican food. We were so happy we found this spot and it’s now one of our go to’s when eating out. The food is delicious and the salsa bar is always fresh. The service is always wonderful too. I always get the burrito or tacos and my fiancé loves the chicken Flautas. We also order the chips and beans to start. The food is always consistent and tasty! Try it out!

Delicious food, cozy setting, attentive service. Loved the homemade tortillas and salsa bar! Everything tasted like it was made with extra love and pride from my margarita to the guacamole. My carne asada was tender and marinated very well. We will back to try more of the menu, so many things looked really good!

Its not often that you will find a Mexican restaurant offering a buffet. But, Las Brasas did. It was very tasty with a very nice variety of options. The handmade tortillas are super worth waiting for. Go try this spot out!
