A lot of the recipes come from Mama LaRocco, who was born in Sicily and came to the US in 1922. Paul LaRocco was born in Little Italy, New York City, and was brought up in Brooklyn, where he learned the secret to making the finest dough around, a time-honored recipe for thin-crust Neapolitan perfected over the years. It is not frozen but made on the spot, and if you take a trip to LaRocco’s, you can watch as we hurl it to the ceiling. Paul has brought the New York secret to California, and at LaRocco’s, you can taste the difference! Every pizza we make is stone baked to perfection for that true authentic flavor! As for the sauce, Paul uses his grandmother’s recipe, made on-site, and worth simply walking in the door for the smell.

I’ve been on a lifelong tour of NYC style pizza slices in Southern Cal (and well, the whole world really) so was excited to try LaRocco’s when I was heading to an event at a nearby bookstore.

The good news…it’s legitimate NY style slices that you might find in the city itself (the NY city that is…). It’s better than all of the major pizza delivery chains and there are a variety of styles and toppings to suit your tastes. The staff is also accommodating and friendly.

We tried three different slices…a cheese (of course….the litmus test for slices), a mushroom and a spinach. All of them were okay…not bad, and again a step or three above the big chains…but not quite as crave worthy as many of the other unique NYC specific slice and pie shops around SoCal. It could have been the prep of the slices…of course when you order slices you’re getting reheated slices from already cooked pies…in this case the reheating may not have been enough as the cheese was not quite remelted enough and they all tasted a little under done.

If I was in this part of town and didn’t have a lot of time to explore other options I might try this one again…but on the great NYC pizza tour of L.A. (and beyond) there are many more satisfying options out there.

We have been to so many pizza places. It is sort of a hobby to find the best pie. I think I have now found it, it is the LaRocco’s in Westchester. The one in culver City is also great, but this one wins.

We have never dined there so I can’t speak to that, we always get take away. It is always perfect. We call and when we get there our pie is ready.

They have everything you could want. They will make you a full pie, sometimes they have slices. They can make it super thin or thick. They can make a White Pie which is hard to get in LA, at least a good one. You usually have to be in Pittsburgh or NY to get a real White Pie. They have it down and it is always perfect.

They will make your pie not totally baked and you finish it yourself in the oven, and we have done that, but we don’t live far so our pizza is always hot and perfect.

The place is always super clean and there is indoor dinning and one day we will do that. It is comfortable inside.

They also have pies with toppings my grandson loves, like their mac and cheese topping. They just have it all.

We will always try new places in search for the best but as I write this is it and there is no question.

Pretty cool pizza place that feels true to NYC. The guy who worked at the counter was friendly and advised me of the special, $11 for two slices and a soda. The slices are very decently sized, and I loved how they were crispy, not soggy and greasy like some other places. Lots of indoor seating, and plenty of parking.

Big slices yes, but, no cheese at all nor enough pizza sauce. I had to add more cheese to it when I got home, samething with the sauce.
Needs improvement.
QA Aerospace/Aviation inspector’s opinion.
I’m going back to Walmart and get two large pizzas for the same or even less price.
Good luck Mr. Deroco’s:(

It’s pretty hard to find a great, classic NY pizza slice in LA, but LaRocco’s fits the bill perfectly. I come for lunch frequently, and the pizza is consistently great, with crispy and chewy exterior/interior dough, gooey cheese, and lightly crisped pepperoni. Prices are reasonable, staff are friendly and competent, and the facilities are well maintained. It may not be an upscale, elevated pizza experience, but it is definitely worth visits and revisits!

I just had the worst pizza (delivery) from LaRocco’s Westchester. I should have realized something was wrong when it came in under 15 minutes. The pizza crust was like cardboard-I suspect this pizza had been sitting around all day and when our order came in, they threw it in the oven for a few minutes and then sent it out for delivery. There was very little sauce, so between the cardboard crust and flavorlessness, I will not order from them again. And not cheap!

Ambiance: Simple and straightforward design, nice and clean with plenty of seating. Bigger inside than you’d assume by looking from the outside.

Service: I was the only person at the time, but the person was very sweet and helpful. Took no time to get my food.

Food: I loved that they served pizza by the slice, but I wasn’t really impressed with the flavor of the pizza overall. They were a great size, really nice crispy crust, but I just didn’t find the pizza to be really memorable.

Best pizza in WESTCHESTER! I’ve had em all! Pretty authentic NY Thin Style. The pepperonis were similar to the world famous Prince Street Pizzeria in NY. Delicious! I heavily recommend this spot to anybody in the near by area. Will be back! Thanks again!

I had a nice slice of Margherita Pizza at LaRocco’s. One slice is so big! Great value and nice margherita. Except the basil was a little toasty and I prefer fresh.
