The steak was delicious, juicy and tender, the Brussel salad chickpeas was interesting but I wouldn’t try it again.
The tuna tostada looks good and my friend said it was, there black bean burger was interesting but not my favorite, the meatballs were delicious, tender, juicy, and delicious great recipe from the chiefs family.
I liked the chared broccoli but would loved it pre cut as it was awkward to cut with a butter knife. The drinks are strong and good I loved the espresso martini and the lemon cheesecake was delicious.
Beautiful Dinner, live band and servers are amazing!

Very slow kitchen. One waits and waits between dishes being served. Waiter staff is good. My prime rib was barely warm by the time it arrived at my table. Food quality was OK but not what one expected for the price.

Made reservations for brunch, easy process and was seated immediately. Resturant is nice with both indoor/outdoor seating. Menu has various brunch options and prices are what you’d expect at a Palm Desert hotel off El Paseo. Food was hot and orders were correct. My only real complaint is the service. Waiter Julian seemed almost irritated that he was waiting on us. His tone and swemingly unwillingness to want to assist made my group lean to not wanting to come back to this establishment. Worth the visit if you’re in the area as long as you get a different server or catch him on a better day.

No MSG No Garlic Foodie
We didn’t know Hotel Paseo existed until we parked in front of Larkspur Grill. Instead of heading towards our target restaurant, we checked out the Larkspur Grill. They have an interesting menu with vegan friendly, gluten free, and dairy free items clearly marked. I was very tempted to try the Jackfruit Tacos, but was a bit worried about the chipotle crema. The Larkspur Grill bowl interested me and it was marked as dairy free, so I forgot to ensure that the grana padano was the non-dairy version. My main aim was to make sure that garlic was not part of the ingredients. The server said something that was music to my ears and made me want to come back, he said: “just tell us what you like and what you want to eat and we will make sure that it will work for you”. I took that to mean that they have real chefs on-site! We ended up with Buttermilk Pancakes, and Larkspur Grill Bowl. When the food arrived though, I could smell the grana padano and it was definitely cows milk based. They apologized for the mistake on the menu and offered to make me another one. Since it was not an allergy but a diet restriction, I decided to pick through my salad instead – why waste food? While we were there, we saw other interesting bowls being served, but there weren’t that many bowl options on the menu. We came back for another two meals. I tried that Plant Based Breakfast Bowl featuring plant-based eggs+cheese. The eggs+cheese on top of the bowl was amazing, I had to ask the server again just to make sure no real eggs were involved as I found out that eggs cause my eczema to flair up. But I thought that the stuff at the bottom like the tofu, and sweet potatoes was a bit too spicy for me. Since the ‘eggs’ were already plant based, there was too much tofu content in this bowl. When we came back a third time, I wanted to have the eggs+cheese on top of a Mixed Green Salad, but the server suggested scrambled vegan eggs which is not what I really wanted. We also ordered Steal Cut Oatmeal and that was exceptional. Well, if this restaurant was local to us, we’d mostly likely be eating there every weekend. The hotel interior was very modern and artistic, very nice.

So we decided to try this for date night. We set reservations for 5:30pm so we could get good seats. We had a piller/pole in the middle of the room that interfered, but we worked around that. Julian was our waiter, nice but aggressive. We ordered Evian bottled water. I had not opened mine yet and was waiting until I was ready. He picked it up without asking me, opened it and poured it into a glass. I did not want that. Please ask me first before grabbing items off our table. Then we felt like we were being rushed, taking plates while we were still eating and relaxing.

Band started 12 minutes late, but was good. Liked the saxophone and the singer, Reggie, had a great voice. It would have been nice if they had started on time and if he had sing more than 1 song. We had to leave to go to another event and were saddened to have missed those 12 minutes. Then after 9 minutes the singer (Norris Miller) took a break??? I don’t think Larkspur is getting what they pay for. No one wants to work anymore. It’s sad. They should have had their equipment set up and ready to go at 6pm, then sing. I came to hear you and all I got was an intermission and set up noises. Then the saxophone player said that the singer needed a break 11 minutes into shift??? So we got more intermission??? The singer was messing with his tablet on stage. The singer only sang one song in 40minutes. Intoxicated?? Drugs?? We left after that. The saxophone player worked his butt off. I hope he got most the money from tonight.

The menu could have better options. We saw a couple look at the menu and leave. The flatbed was good, but what a little meat?? Pepperoni or sausage. A little more variety never hurt anyone.

Then they were out of items in the menu. The waitor sluffed it off saying they didn’t get shipments?? No Modelo. There were 3 desserts missing off the menu and told “not available.” That’s not good business.

This was my date night and it did not impress me. We left and did not order dessert. Then the waiter chased us out the door to see why we didn’t leave a good tip. My husband leaves good tips when it’s deserved. He has left up to a $200 tip. So if you didn’t get one, look at yourself, but do be chase us out the door.

We were very impressed by the service and food at Larkspur Grill. The food quality and quantity exceeded our expectations and our server, Lady, was wonderful with great recommendations and concentrated on making our night great. We sat outside and had fantastic views of the mountains.

Would definitely come back to try more of the food on the menu.

I have visited Larkspur Grill on many occasions. This is truly the only time where they’ve just not hit the mark. We were stuck off to the side of the stage with very bright (not traditional restaurant lighting but, more importantly, the meals just weren’t very good! I had the swordfish and it was over-the-top salty. My date had the salmon and it too was salty and slightly burnt on one side. Sneaky of the kitchen staff to turn the burnt side down and still serve it.

I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come!

Went. For the prime rib on Monday night and it was awful. We ordered it medium and we ended up with the well done end cut that had been sliced into 2 pieces because they ran out at 5:30 pm. The waiter and manager did not care and would not remove the 2 entrees from the bill. DO NOT EAT HERE. It was a horrible experience from the food to the service.
