I just moved to the area, and this has become my FAVORITE PLACE. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is picture perfect and delicious. You can tell the chef looks at every single order and makes sure they are served to perfection. This is wo wonderful. I would’ve provided a better photo, but I devoured most of the glorious mussels before taking the PIC!!!

I had a relaxing and enjoyable evening after having a challenging work trip. It is tough to travel alone and feel comfortable eating or drinking alone, which I I do quite a bit for business. I am heavily reliant on other reviews so I want to share to my traveling friends. The mussels verde and shrimp pasta dish were delicious. The carrot cake was also delicious!Bartender was fantastic! My old fashions were great! Overall, seemed to have a very good selection of cocktails and beer. He was very attentive and he recommended my dinner selections based on what I told him I was interested in. Great experience and impeccable service!

The Jazz trio was outstanding.
The food was excellent.
But the venue? Please!
There was a light in the lobby tilted like a spotlight into my eyes. I mentioned it but nobody fixed it I asked and they did dim the club lights but the lobby lights were still distracting. Maybe put a short, or long curtain on the lobby side?
And while I’m on it, the tables should be a little closer together, more intimate; heck it’s a club.
I loved it as much as I could, but they need to work on the jazz club atmosphere.
The musicians were wonderful. Really wonderful.

Laporta’s is a cozy gem in Alexandria with outstanding service, a warm, inviting atmosphere, and live light jazz that sets the perfect mood. The hanger steak was tender and flavorful, the scallops perfectly seared with creamy risotto, and the curry mahi mahi was a standout—flaky and rich with just the right spice. We finished with carrot cake and chocolate cake—both moist, decadent, and clearly made in-house. Great food, smooth music, and an all-around relaxing, elevated dining experience. Highly recommend!

Weird experience. Made a reservation weeks in advance to sit in the jazz room for Valentine’s Day. Got put all the way in the back corner by a door where we had no space. Many open tables. Kind of sucked, especially bc I’m paying $30 more for the jazz room. Then the service was average at best. Didn’t bring silverware, steak knives, ask to refill drinks, or temperature for the steak. They wanted us out in “90” mins but the jazz was off for 45 of those mins (mind you the reservation was 8pm, so why’d I pay for this room?). All in all this has a lot of potential but the experience was candidly poor. Will decide on if I want to come back or not.

Im in town once a month for work and eat 3 nights here. Mushroom Rounds are my favorite. I don’t know what it is that makes them so good but they are. The hanger steak, the fish… everything is amazing and Brian is incredible great conversation, knows my routine. It’s nice to “feel at home” with the amount of travel some of us do.

Restaurant week is a disguise. Ordering an App, Main and Dessert is $63.off the menu but $65. for Alexandria Restaurant Week. Take your calculator! Still, I do admire that they offer regular menu items so you can judge the real kitchen and whether to return. I started with the muscles Verde that was a full App portion, served with herbs and butter sauce. The dish needs to be served with a spoon to enjoy the sauce and muscles together…but it took over 15 mins to get wait staff attention (I was the only table in the dinning room). Based on photos and reviews, I ordered the “seared pork schnitzel” which arrived very hot and steamed.. soft soggy stuff in a BROWN sauce (not golden seared, gooden lemon butter) that I chose to not eat; and once disappointed, returning an item never works out. To their credit they asked about a refire but the harm was done and mood ruined. Then the carrot cake: a beautiful plate design and unexpected warm cake. On the first bite, I hit hard crust. It was burned black and hidden. I wasn’t even asked about it. The full check arrived with no apologizes, for which the tip reflected. All that plus a room so cold you had to wear a coat…this is a hard NO! About $110 for one.

Wonderful dining experience with live music. From the warm and inviting welcome of Stephanie the hostess to the well prepared food, Laporta’s exceeded most of my expectations. The only detractor was my trout being slightly overcooked. But the flavor was delicious.
