The food has been outstanding on both occasions. On my first visit, the roast duck was perfectly cooked, rich, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The Chicken Schnitzel I had on my last visit was the best I’ve had anywhere, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a delicious sauce and oyster mushrooms. The sides of frites and seasonal vegetables are simple but perfectly done, and complement the mains really well.
Desserts deserve a special mention. The pain perdu from my first visit was soft, indulgent, and full of flavour. On my second visit, the raspberry éclair was equally memorable, fresh, vibrant, and the perfect way to top off the meal.
A couple of my fellow diners tried the prix fixe menu, which offers three courses at a very reasonable price, and they were just as impressed.
Service is faultless. Staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm without ever feeling overbearing. The whole experience feels personal and thoughtful, a reflection of the care that’s clearly gone into every detail.
Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
As with a lot of restaurants we were asked if we were celebrating an occasion when we booked, most of whom ignore the information but there was a card on the table when we arrived which was a lovely touch.
We will definitely be back!
We arrived early for our booking and on a whim decided to check if our table might be ready early. While this was perhaps optimistic as Lapin is a new and bustling restaurant, the staff were incredibly accommodating. They kindly seated us at a table outside while our booked indoor table was being prepared.
While we waited, we were offered a drinks and snack menu. A thoughtful touch that made the experience even more enjoyable. We ordered the Comté gougères, some bread, and Provençal olives. Had the staff not been so welcoming, we may have missed out on these. The Comté gougères were especially memorable! Light, airy pastry filled with rich, melted cheese. What’s not to love?
Once inside, we were warmly greeted and looked after by our waiter, Daniel, who was not only friendly and attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable. He guided us through the wine list with confidence and made some excellent recommendations that paired beautifully with our meal.
To start, I had the Soufflé Suissesse which was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The ultimate French comfort food!
For our main course, we shared the Côte de Boeuf with pomme purée and duck fat frites. The Côte de Boeuf was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and full of depth. The pomme purée was easily the best I’ve ever tasted. I’m still dreaming about the burnt butter that brought it all together.
We finished with the pain perdu and burnt Basque cheesecake, both of which were the perfect end to an outstanding meal.
I couldn’t recommend Lapin enough. We will definitely be back soon!
We visited on a busy Saturday evening, my husband opted for the Prix Fixe menu, a delectable Venison Shepherds Pie, was the standout dish! Hearty, packed full of flavour & incredible value for 3-courses at £29!!
The open kitchen allows dinners to sneak into the lives of a busy kitchen, the attentive service, & overall attention to detail gives the feeling of an intimate, personal chef vibe.
Delicious truffles are presented with the bill; all these small touches ensure Lapin will hold its own in a crowded market, & stands tall against rivals.
Please ensure you check out this classy joint, & continue to support local independents.
The food was absolutely delicious full of flavour and beautifully done. Such a lovely atmosphere and great service too.
Highly recommended!
My partner and I visited here for our 10 year anniversary along with her Birthday. The staff were incredible, a hand written card was given to us for our celebrations which was a very nice touch.
The food was exceptional. I had scallops for the starter, she had the duck parfait. Both were absolutely amazing and very generous portion sizes.
We had the roast duck crown to share for our main. Definitely enough for 3 to share. It was exquisite, the sauce was simply amazing.
For dessert, I had the St. Emilion au Chocolat, my partner had the apple sorbet. Again, both absolutely amazing.
Total bill came to £200 which included the service charge and plenty of wine for the 2 of us. Very well priced for the quality of food you get. We will be back to try the set menu which is great value for 3 courses at £29.
Thank you!
