The food prices are a bit high. Perhaps the rent is higher due to its proximity to NYU. A single person ordered a spicy hot pot and ended up paying $60. In the case of takeout. If you add a tip when dining in Compared to the food court in Flushing’s New World, which doesn’t offer tipping, this place… Perhaps it’s simply to cater to the spending habits of Asian students. I’ll only try it once. Next time, I think there are more options near Chinatown for $60.

Coming to this restaurant during our group tour. I promise it is the best one comparing with other Chinese cuisines in our American kitchen trip. Maybe it cannot be compared to the ones in China, but when Chinese people here are homesick it definitely will not disappoint.

Spicy, spicy and spicy!
You will absolutely fall in love with the numbing spice and tingling of the Sichuan peppercorns.
Bomb level of spice paired with a very flexible menu is the recipe for a hearty meal.
Spicy Dry Hot Pot is their signature bestselling dish, worth the after effects of the spiciness.
The food will definitely make you come back again and again. I am sure to visit this restaurant once more pretty soon.

Went there on Saturday night got around $80 dollars of food but we couldn’t finish it so we packed it back home for tomorrow. And when we are eating it the next day we saw a scotch-brite inside our food. Couldn’t imagine if I did not see it I would have just eat it. But the experience in the store was good.

We came here on Halloween, around 8:30 pm; the place was mildly busy, and they took our order within 15 min of arriving to the place. We ordered the sesame chicken, the beef noodle soup and the soup dumplings; they were all DELICIOUS! The broth took my breath away, the meat was as tender as a piece of cotton candy. The chicken was crispy with a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. I will come here one thousand times more.
PS: the soup dumplings are too few (only 3), just FYI!

This is one of my favorite places to get some affordable and authentic Szechuan Hot Pot in the city! It makes for a perfect after work meal especially with the weather settling further and further into fall I love to get the prawn hot pot and just how much food comes with it (I always end up taking some home with me)
I’ve been here before when it was less busy, so I was able to order face to face with a server (and service was very friendly and accommodating) but also love that you can order by scanning the code on your table (quick and efficient service!)
I LOVE the broth here! It’s super rich and comforting I got spice level 2 but definitely could’ve handled a 3 as someone who genuinely loves spice but it was a great experience tasting how well balanced the flavors were
I do wish there was a head off option for the prawn but also love sucking the meat out of the brain I just hate getting super messy lol
Definitely worth the try if you’re a fan of authentic Szechuan or looking to taste something new!

I came here with 3 friends and really liked our dry hot pot. They have a wide selection of meat, seafood, and veggies. The flavor is very traditional and similar to the other dry pot places in flushing. The restaurant was spacious as well and not crowded.

Terrible place.
I can’t believe how disappointing this experience was. I traveled a long way just to eat here and carefully picked out my ingredients. When I picked it up, I gave them my order number. They didn’t look at it and handed me the completely wrong dish, which I only realized when I returned home. I ordered a plate loaded with meat, and instead they gave me some random vegetable dish that cost less than half of what I paid for. After all that effort and time, the least they could do is get the order right. Absolute waste of money and time.

I was in the neighborhood and asked a worker in the place I was shopping if there was a good Thai or Chinese restaurant in the area. He said right down the block and that is how I found this gem Lao Ma Spicy. The atmosphere is a bit loud but after awhile the din becomes secondary to the absolutely amazing food. I only ordered the Spicy beef soup and steamed pork dumplings and had to stop eating before I could finish the huge portions. Both were amazingly tasty, expertly seasoned, and piping hot. I did notice that I didn’t see any American silverware on the tables, only elegant shiny black chopsticks. However, I’m sure if you’re a novice they keep some in reserve so you won’t starve or have to eat with your fingers. Go, eat, enjoy. I’m headed back there this weekend after John Wick: Chapter 4.

My friend and I came by when we were in the mood for some mala dry pot (they have a more “regular” menu, but we didn’t try anything on it).
I don’t really think there’s anything particularly noteworthy about the setup – the ingredients you pick from in the back all look fairly fresh, and indeed I was very happy with the quality of our delicious dry pot.
Since it was my first time here, I was a little conservative with the spice level (only got the lowest level of spicyness), which was actually not that spicy. I’d definitely want to increase that next time.
Price point was not bad – it was on the pricier end of things, but both of us were pretty full, and we still had around 1 meal’s worth of leftovers to take home.
I think this place is a better option than Mala Project in price and quality – will definitely be back!
