From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into a quiet little corner of a street market — warm, inviting, and full of charm.
The staff? Absolutely outstanding. Everyone was welcoming and genuinely friendly. Our waitress took the time to walk us through the menu so we understood all the options, and several team members stopped by to check in, chat, and even share recommendations for what we have to try next time. That personal touch made all the difference.
The space was spotless with a great ambiance — relaxed but vibrant. We stopped in for an early lunch, and before we knew it, the place was completely full. There was a steady stream of food runners heading in and out with pickup orders, which tells you everything you need to know about how loved this spot already is.
So many incredible flavors, beautifully presented dishes, and all at a very fair price.
This is officially on our “must-return” list. Highly recommend!
I ordered the braised beef noodle soup, the shrimp stir fried noodles, the combo soup dumplings, and the mango passion fruit tea with boba. Everything was delicious!
The braised beef noodle soup was generous on the beef and the noodles. The soup had a mild spicy kick to it. The shrimp stir fried noodles was good but nothing too special.
But the soup dumplings was where this restaurant shines. My sample size is small, but these are the best soup dumplings I have had so far. What makes them so good is the amount of liquid in the dumplings. The restaurant also has an open design kitchen, so you can watch them making fresh soup dumplings. The combo was a good way to try them all. My favorites were the shrimp and crab meat ones.
I ate here on a Saturday at 4pm. I was trying to beat the dinner rush, but they were already busy. You join a virtual queue once you get there. It took 30 minutes to get my table.
The staff is amazing. Everything is so efficiently done. And they were very courteous and checked on my table frequently.
Something else I noticed is that everything there is branded. Their plates, bowls, and even napkins have their logo printed on them. And they have nice thick napkins. Just gave an extra little luxurious feel to the restaurant.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Lao Hu Tong. One of the staff gave me a recommendation for the next time I join them – the pork chili wontons and the Dan Dan noodles. I will be back to try these dishes.
Black truffle and crab XLB were very pronounced and you can see how much they put into each dumpling. Put with Berkshire pork and I have to give them quality advantage over DTF. Spicy chili wontons are also very good and pleasantly different profile with sesame sauce mixture.
The soup dumplings is their signature dish which was excellent. Full of soup and flavor (crab meat and black truffle) this is a definite must try.
Their dan dan noodles was vey good too. Thick and chewy noodles and all the ground beef fattiness and spice. You cant go wrong with beef fried rice, a staple in any chinese resto.
But I was a bit disappointed with the spicy cucumber app, it was just plain and little sauce and heat. And their spare ribs was fairly small and swimming in a thick hoison-type sauce, hiding any porky flavor. For the price, nearly $80 for 2 people, hardly any take home from many other chinese restos at half the price.
Newly opened, Lao Hu Tong serves up housemade potstickers, noodle dishes, pork dumplings so fresh chef’s fingerprints adorn the edges.
Really delighted to meet colleagues for lunch at the restaurant. We ordered green tea and crispy chive pancakes to start. The chewy sweet batter has a smokey toasted marshmallow essence with local chives and spicy mayo dipping sauce.
The stir fry had large pieces of broccoli, julienne bok chop, carrots and more. Our pot stickers exterior was firmer to hold the tender steamed carrot, large peas and assorted veggie contents in a spongey pillow. Tableside condiments of 3 flavors: chilli oil, dumpling soy sauce and one other that escapes me.
Our server, Sylvia was helpful in explaining the patron fav’ menu items and her go-to dishes including the Dan spicy soups with noodles and Verkshire pork dumplings with fresh crab.
The staff was quick to tidy the plates we devoured a d refill our hot water pot for tea. Nice windows and modern decoration. Hope to return again soon and introduce friends for a tasty meal. Thank you and welcome to the neighborhood
