Flew to Portland just for dinner at Langbaan, and it exceeded every expectation.

The space is beautiful, softly lit, calm, and intimate. Service was warm and attentive throughout, including a thoughtful birthday greeting.

The food was outstanding. The tom kha, presented as a panna cotta, melted instantly and delivered incredible depth of flavor, paired with beautifully cured salmon that tasted exceptionally fresh. Pad ped pla was rich and balanced, and the rice cake dessert was a perfect finish. Each dish came with thoughtful storytelling that added to the experience.

The sommelier was excellent. I enjoyed a Jacquère earlier in the meal and was later offered a glass of Merlot to complement the main course, which was spot on.

A truly memorable dining experience and absolutely worth the trip.

A Portland institution that is celebrated and James Beard awarded for a reason. After taking the first bite of food, I knew I’d be in for an incredible experience. The Miang Som, Jeau Hon soup (I successfully avoid chugging the broth from the bowl), Dtao Jeow Lon were standouts, though it’s difficult to compare when the courses are given such thought and spacing (small bites, soup, salads, main, and dessert).
A word about service. I sat at the bar. Joe and Paul served me and were amazing. They also wore many hats, taking and making drinks, explaining and clearing dishes, etc. I was hoping to chata bit more with the them, but they were consistently busy. It seemed there would be more opportunity for that sitting at a table based on my observations. If you prefer to have fewer interruptions yet have all your needs met, the bar is a great option.
Overall, an exceptional experience that is worth your hard earned money.

What an incredible dining experience. Every dish was amazing. For many unique flavor combinations and textures. The highlights for me were the scallop coconut rice cup and the chicken, mushroom bok choy soup. Fish sauce is a powerful ingredient that can overwhelm a lot of dishes in my experience in other places but the chef(s) here know exactly what they are doing and have just the right amount of everything in each dish. I will say I am a boring white boy American and am used to sweet dessert and while they were interesting and nuanced, the dessert offerings didn’t read a dessert to me. But again I don’t have that sophisticated of a palate. The staff here is second to none. So friendly and informative. They are equal parts actors, food experts and new friends. Incredible job by everyone there. The vibes are great too, very cool place. Overall top three restaurant in Portland IMO.

We had a great time, and a great meal. In addition to the outstanding food the service was amazing. We are looking forward to another visit.

This was the last night of thier Bangkok menu, and we really enjoyed every course, with an excellent wine pairing. All of the dishes were really well thought out, and were balanced in regards to flavor and texture. Notable standouts were the shrimp, Hokkaido scallop, chicken roulade, and macaroon.

Atmosphere is very warm and intimate, especially seated at the Chef’s counter. Highly, highly recommend

Langbaan’s Thai-Muslim–inspired tasting menu was incredible! We started with delicate bites like the Miang Som (shrimp, pomelo, betel leaf) and the Kanom Krok (scallop in coconut cream, crispy rice cup), Gang Kahri- venison tartare which was delicious! For main we had a rich lamb curry, and even a standout Thai-Muslim curry rice. Dessert including a Roti Sai Mhai and cake khing was a perfect, surprising finish. The kitchen handled my food restrictions gracefully and without complaint, and each dish was as thoughtfully prepared as the regular menu.

Menu changes each month or season and this was for a Bangkok inspired menu. Food was all very good but a little less innovative than anticipated – heard from others that this just wasn’t the best menu set even though everything was still expertly flavorful. Service and atmosphere were great. Highly recommend trying at least once

Very good tasting menu full of bright flavors, fun textures, nice wine pairings, and engaged service. $135 per head, expect $16-20 for cocktails, or $65 for the wine pairing (which is great). I left quite full, I feel like you really get your money’s worth in terms of pre-fixe dining. Would come back for a date night for sure, but it was laid back enough for me to listen to music and read.

Tried the Thai street food and it was fantastic. We also added the oysters, wagyu beef and the wine tasting menu. We set at the chefs counter which was very entertaining and the chefs were friendly. The servers were very knowledgeable and I loved listening to them tell us story about the wine pairings. This is great for a special occasion or indulgence. Highly recommend!

I recently visited this place for a friend’s reunion, and it happened to be their vegetarian week. It was my first time trying a full vegetarian menu, and I have to say, it was a wonderful surprise! The dishes were creative and full of flavor – we even had banana blossom, which was a unique and tasty experience. The atmosphere was perfect for reconnecting with friends, and the staff made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try something new!
