I got a curry bowl- for the price it was very mid, not something I’d come back for.
Life Alive or cava are way better IMO, but to be fair this was the only thing I tried.
It would have been nice if there was more food too it, as well as more flavor like mixed greens instead of just plain spinach.

It’s so hard to find truly high-quality, thoughtfully sourced food outside of your own kitchen, but Laney & Lu does it beautifully. Everything is made with incredible ingredients and served in such a warm, thoughtfully designed space. The attention to detail really stands out—from the quality of the food to the little touches that make the experience special. It’s my favorite place in Portsmouth to grab a bite to eat and a coffee. They even make their ice cubes with coffee so your drink never gets watered down. The care they put into everything definitely does not go unnoticed.

ACCESSIBILITY AUDIT:
This space is accessible for people with mobility (dis)abilities!

There is a functional accessible door opener to the right of the front doors and a small, but easily negotiable lip to enter.

The counter has a lowered section, although the cashier is standing.

The drinks in the fridge and gift shop items on higher shelves may require assistance to reach for anyone in a wheelchair.

There are plenty of tables with removable chairs, and aisles are wide enough to maneuver.

Both single-stall restrooms are gender neutral, spacious, and have grab bars and a roll under sink. One is also labeled as having a changing table. The bathroom doors are a moderate weight with a lever handle and there is no accessible door opener to open these.

Growth areas could be having large print, audio, and/or braille menus as well as a detailed allergen menu.

The food was delicious and perfect portions, though quite expensive. The falafel was perfectly made which I find rare. Not dry at all!

We love acai bowls after long workouts and frequently try different places in the area. Laney & Lu had good reviews so we stopped in this weekend. Though there was no line and it was not a busy time of day we weren’t greeted for a couple of minutes and then were asked to wait, which was no big deal- we werent in a hurry. Our acai bowls were not blended very well leaving them pretty watery bit we each had several very frozen chunks in our bowls. The bowls lacked flavor and the coffees didnt seem mixed very well either. It was fun that the ice cubes were made of coffee but for higher priced coffees, they were packed with ice cubes not leaving much room for coffee.

First time here and stopped in for a coffee and breakfast. Pretty bright restaurant with healthy options. Had the epic egg sandwich and an almond milk latte. Both were delicious. Plenty of people sitting inside or outside on laptops or with others. Definitely will be back!

Our grain bowls, iced tea and vanilla latte were all tasty and staff was friendly. The cleanliness on the other hand was lacking – tables had not been wiped down and were dirty and bathrooms were filthy and unusable. One toilet seat was completely broken off and was on the floor so we both had to go to Buffalo Wild Wings to use the restroom.

If you’re looking for a light yet satisfying lunch, the Fiesta Bowl is a solid choice. It was pretty good overall, and I appreciated the option to choose between quinoa or brown rice—I went with the brown rice, which paired nicely with the other ingredients.

The avocado cilantro sauce was just okay—kind of heavy and lacking brightness. I think the bowl could really benefit from a fresh, zesty element like a lime or lemon-based dressing to balance the richness of the thicker sauces.

The pickled carrots were a nice touch, and the jalapeños added a great kick. While it’s not a standout salad, it holds its own—I’d rate it a 7/10. With a few thoughtful tweaks in flavor and texture, it could be taken to the next level.

Wait time was also fair not too quick but I understand it was a tad busy! It took around 15 minutes to get my salad but I didn’t mind waiting.

This is my second visit. I visited once when this cafe was under construction and I expressed my support. The woman overseeing the setup was very friendly and thanked me for my support.
On my second visit, I had breakfast. I had the Epic Egg Sandwich with a cup of coffee and a Maple Cordycep Doughnut. Everything was good ! The doughnut was made from ground mushrooms and didn’t crumble. The coffee was smooth. The Epic tasted good but came apart. I don’t know if the bread needs to be toasted a little more but I was given a fork ahead of time.
Prices are high but the food is fresh. And it is Portsmouth during higher inflation.
The WI-FI I couldn’t access.
This cafe has more elbow room, huge windows you can sit at and a larger outdoor seating area.
As I look out the window, I remember this area being run down. Now, it looks so much better!
I am recommending Laney & Lu. I hope they do well.

My 11 year old and I are obsessed with the Huevos Rancheros wrap, it’s our go to every time. It’s offered as a grain bowl but we always get it a as a wrap. It’s packed with fresh, local ingredients and topped with the most delicious citrusy avocado cilantro sauce. The fact that my kid is hooked on something this healthy is a total win! Plus the bright and welcoming ambiance has a touch of European charm, and the easy parking is def a bonus!

One of my favorite spots on the Seacoast by far. Beautiful location, wifi, great coffee and food that you can really feel good about eating! There’s a spacious patio and they can open the walls up on a beautiful day. They’re also super gluten friendly. 10/10! ✨
