This place is located in the tokyo central plaza and next to baskin robin and dunkin donuts. Plenty of parking spots here. The inside of this place is not that big. Service is decent and does not take too long yo get my food.
Ordered the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, comes with sliced beef, small beef chunks, clear beef bone broth, daikon, cilantro, garlic greens, and the wide flat hand pulled noodles. You can pick your own spice level for the noodle. i ordered mild spice and it was kind of spicy for a mild level comparing to other places out there.
I also ordered the spicy fried tofu as a side order. The spicy fried tofu is not that spicy as I am someone that can’t handle that much spice.
Both dishes are decent. For the Lan noodles, the wide flat noodles are huge so if you are someone that enjoys thin noodles, make sure to change your noodle option. They have 8 different kind of noodles but their signature one is the wide flat one.
Overall, I would give a 3.5-4 star rating and I round it up to a 4 star based on we need to support small businesses especially if there is nothing bad I can complain about them. Do they have the best food? Not but decent enough for me to order from them next time if I’m craving for noodles.
The packaging to go held up very well and was easy to construct my meal at home. Noodles (thick flat) were perfectly chewy and broth spicy like I ordered. There was enough food for two, so I even had enough for dinner later in the evening. Truly lived up to the “Spicy Beef Noodle” title. The gizzards appetizer was chewy and delicious and paired well with the chili oil and black vinegar provided. All in all a great meal and a place I would go back again and again to take care of any noodle craving
The quality of the food was notably different. We ordered the beef chow mein, beef noodle soup, fried rice, and smashed cucumbers. The beef chow mein had an unusual flavor profile, causing a uncomfortable tingling sensation on our lips and tongues, despite no indication of spiciness. Upon inquiry, we were told in smart remark they used “numbing oil”. The fried rice was basic, and while the beef noodle soup was satisfactory, the smashed cucumbers were unpalatable, tasting stale as if they had been stored for an extended period. Furthermore, they were not prepared with the customary smashed garlic.
Beyond the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant was a concern. We also observed unprofessional conduct from the noodle chef. Specifically, the chef handled noodles and other food items without gloves, and was seen wiping his face with a dirty rag before immediately returning to food preparation. Additionally, the chef was observed using a mobile phone and touching his nose, then proceeding directly to noodle preparation and cooking. These observations significantly diminished our dining experience. The place was also messy and unorganized.
I recommend just going to the original one in ARCADIA. They are the best and very clean. We will only go to the Arcadia from now on.
this was my second time here and my sisters and I shared the beef tendon, seaweed salad and crispy tofu this time. definitely happier with the choices this time around. my other sister polished off the bowl of spicy beef noodle herself and was very happy with it.
The spicy beef noodle soup is called mala but I didn’t really taste any numbing sensation. Also it’s $1 more compared to the normal noodle, but the tables all have spicy sauce. Consider just getting the standard noodle and adding your own spicy sauce.
Very cool AC. Great for the summer.
