The best family run restaurant on the trip. After ordering we watched the chef pick ingredients straight from the garden. We loved the pork spring rolls, light on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The papaya salad would make any vegetarian smile ear to ear. The freshest salad I’ve had in years, homemade taste and flavorful. The chicken fried lemongrass with chili was phenomenal; If I could eat two dishes I would have. The coffee with milk was strong and absolutely delicious. Everything was more than fair on price. Honestly I would have been more than happy to pay 25% more per dish.

Food was absolutely delicious. Best spring rolls so far on our trip and we have eaten a few. The papaya salad was next level. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommended you don’t go past Lan Happy Restaurant. Very happy Aussies leaving with full belly

Pure, authentic, serene. 10 days in, in our trip through Vietnam. One of the best spots we have tried yet. Papaya salad made straight from the garden – Papaya being taken right in front of you from the tree. Iced coconut coffee was heaven in a glass. Banana pancakes soft and crunchy and tasty all at once.

I wish I found this place earlier! It’s amazing. The owner is the sweetest woman, and the Vietnamese iced coffee and food is delicious. We ordered papaya salad and spring rolls which was one of my favourite meals in Vietnam so far! She even picked the papaya straight off the tree in front of us. One of my favourite spots on the island and great for vegetarians

It was so nice to find a place with genuine people that make you feel welcome especially during tet when most places are closed or the people are not really bothered. The family that run this little restaurant are some of the nicest people we met in 5 weeks in Vietnam. They listened to how we like our food, very spicy, which a lot of people tend to ignore and we had fun talking with them for hours.
The food was all fresh and most homegrown.
We ate here twice as we stayed next door.
Would recommend and would go back if we’re ever back in cat ba.

We were so happy to discover this amazing restaurant next to our homestay. It is run by such a wonderful, kind family and the food was absolutely delicious – homemade with fresh ingredients, including papaya from the garden! We loved it so much that we ate here everyday during our 4-day stay. Would 100% recommend, thank you!!

Very kind owners that take pride in the food that they serve. The food is the best we had on Cat Ba with the freshest ingredients from their garden. The papaya salad was TO DIE FOR! It does have a little spice, but you can ask for without it. Highly recommend!!!
