Took my lovely wife to dinner here for our second anniversary and they delivered beyond what I would expect out of a restaurant, the staff and waitresses are extremely professional and friendly, they helped me out when I needed to bring items in advance to set the scene and they really helped make the night so wonderful and special!

We came on Saturday (made a reservation). We were quickly seated and given our drinks. Apps came fast and the French onion soup was awesome! Waited 45 minutes for our main dishes. The special (portofino) and I ordered a bolognese. The portofino, the scallops were not great looking, the sauce had no flavor. The bolognese was not a good sauce, the meat was underwhelming, has large chunks of fat in it, and the pasta was super over cooked. We were very excited after the apps but were very disappointed in the entrees. The wait between was so long, our server was very slow and I’m not even sure what took so long. The restaurant was not even full. We were really hoping this spot would be better than it was. I’m not big on leaving reviews but when I can cook food better at home it just inspires me to share so someone else doesn’t get as disappointed as we were. Hoping it was just an off night for the restaurant but that was the first and last time we’ll be back :-/

Approaching my hotel I noticed the icon for this restaurant in a strip mall and I quickly called to verify dining in was available with the latest COVID requirements. Opening the front door I noticed that the bar was quite busy with likely a very local crowd but I the only one in the main restaurant section. Amanda quickly appeared and took my order. Started off with a perfect side Caesar salad with anchovies, a soft but warm round roll to dip in an amazing small bowl of olive oil with balsamic, minced garlic and Parmesan. The main course was a perfect pasta Bolognese with sausage and pork and the perfect amount of cheese of top. An all around outstanding dining experience for a great price and I will absolutely return at the next pass through town.

Worst place to go in Rochester, don’t do it rude drunk customers.owner could care less if you want to eat cigarettes with your dinner go there . Otherwise stay away. We complained to her ( the owner) and she made it feel like we were wrong for wanting to eat outside. Where people smoke right at the tables , you would think they would care . Not at this place would give it negative 5 stars if I could.

We went to the lamplighter for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant itself looks outdated and small town-ish but they are in Rochester. Our service was spot on she was lovely, attentive, filled our glasses right before they were out, great timing. Food was good portion but for $29-39 approx for an entree the food wasn’t up to par. The scallops were smooshy, I didn’t even find the crab until the end of the meal on the plate the whole dish was sooooo lemony and I love lemon. French onion soup was pretty darn good I really enjoyed it. All in all it was $125 for two people plus a $40 tip. Not worth it. Because of prices won’t give it another try just in case it wasn’t great again.

The sole highlight of my trip to Rochester. Made me think about my seven years in Malta. Absolutely fantastic. Chef Mike is the greatest.

I had the au poivre pork chop. It was outstanding. The chop was cooked perfectly very tender and juicy. The sauce was a perfect choice for this dish. One of the best pork chops I have ever had. I highly recommend.
