I’ve had Lamonica’s bookmarked for years and years and I can finally say that this is just average pizza. Makes sense that in a college town every other restaurant is busy while I was the only customer here.

When I walked in, I wasn’t actually sure who worked there as there were 3 people yelling and laughing, only one who was initially behind the counter. Then as I went to pay I realized the other two were also “working” so I’m not sure how much attention there is to the business.

I ordered a sausage slice and a Sicilian cheese square.

The sausage slice had a good amount of sausage with good flavor. The part of the dough with the toppings had a good chew but the outer crust was extremely dry overcooked.

As for the square slice, the sauce was a little sweet but good, but the amount of cheese was embarrassing. The dough in the middle again had a good fluffy chew but it was still dry and especially the outer crust. I feel like they overcook their pizzas, which sit out for who knows how long, drying out, then get dried out even more when reheated to order.

I’ve had much worse and I’ve had much better and this won’t be a place I return to

As someone who grew up on the east coast and desperately look for good pizza in LA this pizza is pretty good and what I look for in a pizza I will return in the future

A taste of NYC in LA.
Lamonica’s nails the New York vibe, from the decor to the pizza itself. They claim their dough comes straight from NYC—can’t confirm, but the pizza delivers.
They don’t skimp on ingredients or stretch the dough too thin. The cheese slice was exactly how I remember a classic NY slice—cheesy, flavorful, and satisfying. The BBQ chicken was a little too sweet for my taste, but it still was a great slice.
The grandma pepperoni slice had great fluffy-yet-crispy dough and well-spiced pepperoni, though I’ve had better versions where the sauce really stood out.
Nice staff, quick reheating, and plenty of seating (both standing and sitting options). A few small tweaks—especially to the tomato and BBQ sauce—could take it to the next level, but overall, this is exactly the kind of experience you’d expect at this price point.

Went to UCLA as an undergrad from 2006-08. This was a go to spot for a cheap slice but also one of the best slices I’ve had in LA. Almost 20 years later and I still go here when I can, which is not so easy since I live in East LA.

One bite and it always reminds me of my college days, still tastes the same. I love their pepperoni, meat lovers, and mushroom pizzas but you honestly can’t go wrong here.

My first trip there. Great pizza, quick, efficient and friendly service, but more importantly the pizza was awesome! I have Sicilian, cheese slice, was very good. Another plus is the had plentiful condiment toppings readily available. Price very reasonable, I would definitely recommend it, and return again in the future.

Pizza needs to be warmed up a little more, food was a bit cold when received it, garlic knots were burnt on the bottom, so those need to be cooked better initially. Other than that, good place for a quick bite to eat.

Ordered 2 pizzas and a salad on oct 30th only got the pepperoni and salad u called talked to the manager at the time. I let them know the driver only had one of my two pizzas and only my salad due to being in class I would not be able to go and get the 2nd one. I was told I could come in at a later date and get the cheese pizza. Came in today to collect and was told I needed proof. So the 12 calls from the shop and the driver wasn’t enough? K keep the 1 star. Sad part food was good service nopppppeeeee

I had the deep dish, extra cheese, large pizza and it was delicious! I hate a soggy pizza, and this one definitely was well cooked and cheesy. The large was very large and easily fed four hungry adults. It was ready in the 15 minutes that was promised. The only thing that I was disappointed about was that they did not have a public bathroom and you had to walk down to Whole Foods to use the bathroom. The staff was very nice and efficient.

By far… the best pizza I have ever tasted in town. Thanks for share this masterpiece in the culinary arts, because it’s a well hand made pizza, giving a nice taste of freshness and you will not be disappointed. It is like the in between of thin & crispy, and Pan Pizza. I love it with Garlic granulated, Red Pepper Flakes and Parmesan Cheese, and a Big Cold Coke.
