So we have been coming here since before the sell for decades on decades.

I wouldnt feed the chili to my worst enemy. It tasted like boiled ketchup and cardboard.

The wings and fish and chips were great. Burgers were okay. Asked for well done and was served medium rare…. so ya ynat doesnt work. We want to support but also the chili was literally unpalatable to the entire table.

The bathrooms were gross. 100% no for me. At 12 on a Sunday. Come on….

Joyce was a super pleasant waitress; she enhanced the surroundings, the elegance of the decor. We will be back to Taos simply to stop by here and enjoy the remarkable history of the place. Dang this was memorable, and the food was delicious.

So we’ve been coming to the St. James hotel for just over 20 years and this is the very first time we’ve had a bad experience. First of all I have to applaud the staff, they were accommodating and friendly. Our waitress was very busy but awesome and attentive. The food was awful, and I’m going to blame new management. Coleslaw with the fish and chips was sour, guacamole on fajitas was brown and the chicken looked and tasted like it came from a bag. Fajitas should come out sizzling no matter where you are. The rice tasted and looked as if it had sat in tomato sauce all day. Needless to say the best part of our dinner was the beer. Our waitress noticed our full plates and took care of the bill, she was very apologetic and a little embarrassed. When corporate companies come in some things just aren’t the same.

A historic dining location with great food. We stumbled upon this restaurant while traveling through the area. The ambiance is unmatched if you are a fan of the “Wild West”. You feel like you’re stepping back in time! Food prices are extremely reasonable for what you receive. I’d recommend the chicken fried steak and fried pickles.

This place is amazingly beautiful and charming! It’s old fashion west magic! ❤️ it’s located inside the St James Hotel in Cimarron. the service was really good and fast. Food was tasty, portions were huge, and they have an delicious menu for desserts. Including some of my favs “old fashioned bread pudding” and “Sunday brownies”. The menu has all the basics salads, hamburgers, and entries (salmon, chicken, and steak). They have a full bar, and plenty of seating for small and large parties. If you are around you won’t regret trying this one out! The kids menu is one of the best for travel dinning

I stayed two days at the St. James and ate three meals at the Lambert Restaurant. I ate the fish and chips, reuben, and chicken fried steak. I was told there is no better place to eat nearby, and I was never disappointed. The spicy sauce that comes with the fish and chips was unique and tasty. The rueben was perfect as well for a lunch sized meal. The chicken fried steak was absolutely delicious, but too big to eat with its sides. I barely finished it and ate only half of the potato that came as the side. The strawberry rhubarb pie was also a tasty treat. The truffles they sell are also fun and tasty.
The atmosphere was part wild west and part hunting club. So, you get to enjoy a cow mounted on a wall above you watching you eat them.
The service is great. I was regularly checked on, and everyone was so kind. This was indeed an excellent place for food.

Got take out to try and avoid the bad service we’d heard about. They forgot to put in one of our orders and we had to wait 30 minutes for it to come out. Actual food was overpriced and not that good, I got the burrito, wish it had a better variety in it. They really need to hire some new people.

Historic bar and restaurant inside the St. James Hotel. This place is a regular spot for us. Very nicely decorated building. Food is outstanding and the portions served are almost on the “to much” side. Bullet holes still present in the ceiling tile from the old days.

We’ve eaten here when it was the St.James. It was always great!! But this was not good at all. The worst beef enchilada plate ever. The rice just had tomato sauce in it. The beans had to be Gerhard brand. No seasoning. They need to step it up a bit!!
