Lakeview is a simple little small town Southern restaurant. Their menu is straightforward with some creativity mixed in. (They also offer a daily lunch buffet)

Staying in Waynesboro because the hotel rates are outrageous in Statesboro this time of year while students are moving in. My wife found the Lakeview Restaurant and we decided to give it a go. Although the view of Waynesboro pond was nice, the food was sub par and sadly was not a good dining experience. We were hoping for better and maybe should have had a burger.

Oooh, this review is past due. My name is Moieshia, AKA Mo. You may have heard of me. I am an employee here at the Lakeview Restaurant. Been working here since 2020, before we officiallly reopened. To some I am just a Prep Cook, but I am what is called a Food Expeditor. When done properly along with the AMAZING crew I work with, that means I make sure the food is right before it gets to the customer. It is checked twice before it gets to me, and at the ding of the bell I send it on its way. When we are busy I sometimes assist the waitresses in bringing the food to the customer. If I’m busy, my other teammates chip in as well because we love each other like that. THIS IS NOT A ONE MAN EFFORT!!! We all work as a team.

This place was amazing. The food was delicious, the service was great, the view is amazing and I have never seen such a clean restaurant. I wish I lived closer. I would definitely be a regular.

Expect a little wait when the parking lot is full. Nice diner with hard working waitresses that will keep your glass full. Beautiful lake views while you wait.

I normally brag about this place as far as their food and the nostalgia of the place from my high school days, but they fell from grace a bit during my last visit. They have a lunch buffet from 11 AM to 2 PM and I arrived at noon. I ordered the buffet and then went to the buffet and noticed there wasn’t much food left, but since it was only one hour into the buffet time block, I assumed they would be bringing more. So I scrapped up a small appetizer size worth of leftovers and waited for the buffet to be replenished but it never was and no waitress was stopping to tell me what was going on. So finally, I stopped one of them and asked and they said the buffet was over because their policy is 11 – 2 or until it runs out. I asked why didn’t she say the food was all gone before selling me a buffet? She then began to try to claim that the plate of rice and gravy that I was able to scrape up was considered my buffet meal. I told her I refuse to pay $14 and change for a plate of gravy and rice. She then shrugged her shoulders and said she had other customers to give menus to. That angered me because she should have offered me a menu upon arrival instead of still selling the buffet! I asked for the manager but they were too chicken to come talk to me about it. So there was one waitress that agreed that I was treated unfairly and shortly afterwards the initial nonchalant waitress came out to apologize but the manager never did. They cooked me some chicken tenders and knocked $2.00 off the total bill to make a $12 and some change. I asked for a burger instead of the chicken tenders but they refused that request. I was aggravated and ready to go so I took the compromise and left. I was disappointed because I was enjoying going back there after so many years of not going there and then finding out the food is still pretty good. They ruined my nostalgic feeling. I don’t know if I’m going back anytime soon but they did ask me not to let that one visit stop me from coming back. The only thing is that it’s the manager never talked to me. I know they were there because I saw them. It’s worth stopping to eat there if you’re ever in Waynesboro, GA. though.

This little place is Wonderful last night! Very unassuming with a beautiful view of the lake. The fried green tomatoes were some of the best I have ever had. My cream cheese chicken wrap with grilled green beans was delicious. I kept half my sandwich for lunch today. My husband got the grilled shrimp with broccoli and homemade chips. (Those chips!!!!). Top it off with amazing service!! You guys are doing things RIGHT. I love adding a new spot to our rotation out here. Keep it up And yes, that is a baby gator!
