I’ve always enjoyed traveling and exploring the back roads of east texas and it is always a bonus when I discover a new restaurant that caters to the local community. On this first time visit to Lake Murvaul Marina Restaurant, the scenery of the lake was nothing short of spectacular. The interior of the restaurant has an old-school fashion setting which makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Since I was pressed for time I placed an order to go for the lunch special chicken fried steak with toast, mashed potatoes & gravy, stewed okra with tomatoes. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with this order. My chicken fried steak was burnt, way over cooked and soggy with cooking oil. My greater dissapointment was that the cashier didnot offer to order another chicken fried steak after I mentioned my dissapointment. The stewed okra was made with way too much tomatoes as well. My other orders for the fried green tomatoes, cheese stuffed jalapeños, fried fish & shrimp platter with tater tots, hushpuppies, coleslaw and mashed potatoes were “all” cooked perfect and “not” burnt but the cooking oil flavor lacked something to be desired. The chef salad I ordered was also supposed to come with egg in it as the cashier indicated but it didn’t in my order. My fourth dissapointment was the time that it took for me to get my order. It took more than an hour with only two or 3 other smaller orders ahead of me. When traveling through this area, be aware, that phones from “all” carriers do not work too well in this part of east texas possibly due to the terrain and remote cellular antennas. You might try changing your phone settings to allow google maps to continue working offline but for me I was forced to take screen shots of my route way before I took this path or excursion so I could continue to navigate my trip to this area in the dead zones. Satellite phone probably would work best if you own one.
To be fair I will still return to this location in the future to try “other” things on their menu and I update and post more pictures of my experience. Thanks for viewing and enjoy your travels.

We have found a great place to enjoy the outdoors, friendly people, great food, and service and a beautiful sunset. The cheeseburger and fries combo is amazing. We feel relaxed and our hunger has been satisfied. Break away from the city, head out to the country…. Kick your shoes off, sit back and rest a spell!

Great location. Food is being revamped with new recipes everyday. Some of it is fantastic, some can be a miss. The people that work there are some of friendliest and most accommodating people I’ve ever met.

Just stopped to have dinner and was told they were not taking anymore orders because they had a table of 20 people. Smelt very good but 1st impression of them not being able to handle 20-30 customers is unreal. Will not make the hour drive back here.

Ok here is a great little place to eat! It is a marina on Lake Murval so hours and menus are sometimes a bit off, however, food quality was superb!
Weekend’s breakfast great!

They easily have some of the best burgers in the area and they fry seafood really well too. If you like those things with a good lake view while in a screened dining area, then you should check this place out.

Didn’t get our order put in after 30+ minutes of sitting there, and nobody told us that until the people at our same table had gotten there food. Ridiculous service.

I live in Rockport part time and eat at all the restaurants and their seafood doesn’t come close to Marinas food! Yum! I’ll be back! A+!
Oh, the onion rings and hush puppies are to die for!

Fish and hush puppies were good but sides were barely warm and salad was nothing but huge leaves not lettuce, sent them back. Service was slow but everyone was nice. It was our first time to eat here. Not very impressed. Nice outside seating with a view was a plus.
