We had a wonderful dinner on a Saturday evening at Lake Elmo Inn. Parking was easy to find with plenty of street parking available.
The food was wonderful – teriyaki potstickers, U12 scallops and risotto (incredible!) , lobster ravioli and sin of the inn (rich, but delicious).
Service was great, and our server was attentive and very knowledgeable with recommendations.
Ambiance was moderately noisy, not too loud to hear a conversation but background noise – just right!
We will definitely be back!

I’m not sure if I can find the right words to describe my experience at this place. I called ahead for my mom’s 90th birthday. A table for 7 was set up only a week in advance. How lucky for us! I personally had to watch my diet so the chef made a gluten and non dairy 4 course meal last minute. I couldn’t get a cake in time so they made one for us, and it was the best frosting I have ever had. I never got overly bloated. I could tell the cake was made with healthy ingredients, as well as their delightful desert pastries. My mom just loved the old style atmosphere. She was talkative and giddy the whole time! I had to give this place five stars. And the price was right. Thanks to everyone at the Inn, especially the chef, for our wonderful brunch.

We celebrated an 80th birthday at Lake Elmo Inn. Everyone in our group loved their food and drinks. They have a great menu with a good variety of entrees and cocktails, as well as bunch of options for kids. They also had some very good mocktails for those who don’t drink. We did note that the service is quite slow, with dinner taking over 2 hours despite not ordering dessert. This didn’t bother us too much as we were celebrating a birthday, but just something to note.

My wife and I enjoy fine dining, but this is unquestionably the best meal we’ve had in the last 3-5 years! The fresh-baked rolls, Minnesota Wild Rice & Duck Soup, Market Salad with rich ranch, broiled Jumbo Shrimp, and Glazed Apple Bourbon Chicken were all top-notch, and even the vegetables du jour were perfectly sauteed. I also thought the Strawberry-Champagne Cake and White Chocolate Mousse (very rich and creamy) were quite good. We will definitely have to visit more often.

I’ll be honest and say that there’s some room for improvement. We have visited twice in the last 2 months.
The food has been very mediocre and the service is lacking.
Our first visit, the server was obviously overwhelmed. She forgot to give us our dinner rolls and our sorbet. She was very kind, but seemed a bit frazzled.
My dish that time was just okay. The vegetables were over cooked, bland and pale. My husband’s steak had no flavor or seasoning.
The second visit was in the bar area. Yet again, our server forgot the sorbet and rolls. He seemed more concerned with chatting with the bartender and other servers than assisting us.
I had the sunnies, wild rice and veggies. The sunnies were just okay. A bit under done and bland. Veggies were flabby and bland as well. My husband ordered the pork chop. It too was bland.
I absolutely love the setting and typically love the service. But for the cost of everything on the menu, it needs to be top notch. There needs to be more care taken with the food and look of the food as there is with the beautiful restaurant.

My wife and I celebrated our 48th anniversary at the Lake Elmo Inn on Oct. 29. Judy our server was terrific. She was attentive and efficent, bringing our order at just the appopiate time. Food was delicious. My wfe’s filet was done to perfection, and my rack of ribs was fall off the bone tender and the portion so huge we will have another meal of it tomorrow. The owner even stopped by to wish us happy anniversary. Altogether it was an exceptionly wonderful experience.

We had a lovely experience there. I loved the lamb chops, and the soup. Very attentive nice waiters. My only recommendation is using less amount of sugar in the deserts as they were just too sugary.

Christmas at the Lake Elmo Inn is my favorite time. The decorations are gorgeous in an Olde World way. I had the shrimp and they were large enough to be mini lobsters and yet didn’t have the fishy taste that large shrimp can sometimes have. My Mom’s steak was cooked the way she likes and she took half of it home for lunch the next day. This was the third year we have come at Christmas and we plan on doing this every year. Please make your reservations in advance if you want a busy night.
