The Lamb Kabab was delicious, minced lamb marinated with fresh spices, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked in the tandoor.
The Charsi Karahi was a standout. Rich, aromatic, and full of depth with black pepper, whole tomatoes, whole green chilies, and dry masala. Definitely recommend having it with naan and rice to soak up all the flavors.
We also tried the Lamb Chops tender, well-seasoned with traditional Lahore spices, and cooked beautifully in the tandoor.
Overall, a great spot for family and friends gatherings, with comforting, authentic flavors. Would definitely recommend and will be back again.
The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming — their warmth really made the experience even better. The restaurant atmosphere felt cozy and relaxed, great for enjoying a good meal without rush. Portion sizes were generous and we felt the price was worth every bite.
Overall, this was one of the best meals we’ve had in a while, and I will definitely be returning. Highly recommended for anyone looking for tasty food and friendly service.
So a few weeks ago, we had this amazing holiday party at work. I’m talking 150+ dishes. ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY. You’d think with that kind of selection, we’d be set for life, right?
Wrong.
Because apparently, us desis have this hilarious genetic glitch where our taste buds stage a full-on revolt unless there’s something spicy, something karahi-fied, something with kebabs, or that soul-healing mash kay tarkay wali daal. It’s science. I don’t make the rules. ♂️
Fast forward to today – just a regular, crazy busy work day. No party. No celebration. Just back-to-back meetings and that familiar feeling creeping in… you know the one. So naturally, a few of us looked at each other with that “we know what must be done” look and headed straight to Lahore Restaurant in Secaucus. The 35-minute drive from Jersey City was basically a comedy show courtesy of traffic, but we survived.
By the time we got there, we were already stuffed from the day. But did that stop us? Absolutely not. We ordered anyway because priorities.
And honestly? Everything was fresh and delicious. Hats off to the owner – genuinely humble and nice guy. The staff was super friendly too, especially my new Sardaar friend from Hyderabad (shoutout to you, bhai! ).
Everyone left happy, bellies at maximum capacity, making wild promises like “I’m not eating for two days” (spoiler: we definitely broke that promise ).
So thank you, Lahore Restaurant, for saving our desi souls on a random workday. 10/10, would overeat again.
Don’t try nihari (little salty)
Try
1. charsi karahi
2. Makhni handi
3. Don’t try gol gappa (I don’t like or may be my taste buds are little high).
But ambience and vibe…. superb
You’ll directly be in state of nostalgia….
The pani puri, chapli kabab, and fried fish were good. The tawa chicken was just okay as a Lahori, I was expecting authentic tawa chicken with a bit of green chilies and less gravy. The taste was fine, but not outstanding.
The goat charsi karahi was disappointing. Being Punjabi, we expect the goat to be fully tender, but it was only about 75% tender. Also, the main difference between karahi and qorma is the type of gravy.
Their karahi had yogurt and a creamy gravy, very similar to a korma. It wasn’t the usual tomato-based, thick, semi-dry style you expect from a traditional karahi. There were no green chilies or peppers, and overall it tasted and looked more like a qorma than a classic charsi karahi.
When you’re paying $48 for charsi karahi, you expect a higher level of taste and authenticity
Overall it was good but lil over pricy. $48 for the Goat karahi was not making sense, 17 for tawa chicken was a lot too. It’s only leg with a thigh piece.
