This restaurant has been here since the 1800s. That should tell you everything you need to know, but I’ll add something. My meal was perfect. I had the filet (perfect medium rare) with the mushroom Cabernet sauce, roasted vegetables and potatoes. Good ambience and more than a full bar.

Excellent Holiday Party Venue with Great Food and Charm! We recently hosted our organization’s holiday party at The Lafayette House this past weekend, and it was a truly fantastic experience from start to finish!

We used their function space, and everything was handled with professionalism. The service was absolutely excellent—the staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured our event ran smoothly.

The food was great and received many compliments from our members. It was definitely a highlight of the evening.

We especially loved the unique atmosphere of the venue. The old, revolutionary-era charm of the building provides such a warm and historic backdrop for any event.

If you are looking for a beautiful and charming venue with great service and delicious food for your next function or special occasion, I highly recommend The Lafayette House!

History restaurant with good food and good service. It has an old world feel. The chicken Marsala was very blah but the seafood was great. The stuffed mushroom and bacon wrapped scallops were amazing!

This place was great, I chose it as I was travelling back down to Connecticut and wanted a nice meal along the way and they really delivered. Besides the great food, the building has ample parking, vintage wood interior, elegance in table setup/cutlery, superb service, live and nice guitarist this specific night, I know if I am ever in the area again I will stop by again. 5/5

We went to the Lafayette house for the first time, for Thanksgiving. Everything was delicious! I had all of what they had on the buffet! All of it was awesome! My brother and my wife loved it too! They were quick to refill anything that was low. Lots to choose from! The chicken fricassee was my favorite. The turkey was perfectly cook as well. The staff, as busy as they were, stayed positive and full of smiles!

Food was ok. Service was fine. Atmosphere was minimal. It was a Thursday night at 7 PM, and the place was almost empty. But the real issue was something very strange….

It all started when we were handed the specials menu. We noticed that for each item on the daily specials menu, the pricing had two numbers. There was one price if you paid by cash, and another price if you paid by credit card.

At first, we thought it was a joke, because the regular menu only had one price on there for each item. We had already placed our orders, but figured we’d ask the waitress what the joke was. She sheepishly told us it wasn’t a joke and that there was a different price if you paid by credit card. WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I mentioned the regular menu only had one price. She said it was a mistake by the restaurant and they were trying to fix it… but that the regular menu also had a higher price per item if you pay by credit card.

My jaw dropped.

I kindly explained that aside from gas stations (and even that is rare nowadays), I’d never seen another establishment, and definitely NEVER a restaurant… charge more if paying by credit card. We agreed it was not her fault, and she was very nice about it, but but what an embarrassment for the Lafayette House.

I also explained that even if they are doing something that is potentially illegal (yes, only potentially, depending upon how they word it), that having the regular menu NOT show the other pricing was definitely illegal. You can’t tell someone their dish will cost $35, and then charge them $37 without them knowing in advance.

Anyways, the poor waitress was certainly patient and calm, and this was not her fault. that being said, the Lafayette House should be ashamed of themselves…. not only charging more if paying by credit card, but also doing it somewhat surreptitiously.

If the food were incredible, or the atmosphere amazing, I’d consider ignoring this rather shady practice….. but it wasn’t. Any restaurant that thinks they should try and start the practice of giving a credit card surcharge, is not a restaurant you should go to.

The mom and pop hospitality makes you feel like you’re dining at family dinner. Wanda was super friendly and amazing.
The inside has several different dining rooms and themed décor. The whole establishment is huge! We met the owners of the restaurant who were generous and friendly!
I loved my French onion soup and my marinated steak tips. The sauce was absolutely delicious. The cuts of meat were very tender. I preferred my dish over their prime rib!

My daughter invited her mother in law and me for Mothers Day brunch this past Sunday along with her husband and their four kids and my other daughter! We had a 9:00 reservation but our table was not ready at 9:00 we had to wait in the bar area for about 15 minutes. Once we were seated we waited another 10 min for them to finish setting up the food! My grandchildren ages 5, 3 and 1 year old twins were incredibly well behaved and patient! Once we were finally able to get to the buffet, we saw a wonderful variety of things to eat and for the kids to be adventurous with! Ready to dive in to our meal, we found the food to be less than tasty, in fact almost Everything was barely edible! From the powdered scrambled egg to the tooth breaking crisp fried dough and the limp soggy bacon to the pasty quiche it was disappointment after disappointment! My younger daughter, the only to eat the Maui salmon was violently ill for the next two days! My omelet looked promising but was completely uncooked inside! I encouraged my daughter to reach out to The Lafayette management to let them know about the experience but after a few days I decided that I also needed to reach out. For the price tag, it was not a satisfactory or acceptable experience!
