Lacou was absolutely outstanding. I’ve been travelling around the Caribbean for the past month, and this is hands down my favourite restaurant of the entire trip.
The food was exceptional — the breaded marlin was cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and tender inside, and easily one of the best dishes I’ve had anywhere. The ceviche was incredibly fresh, well balanced, and full of flavour.
A really great meal — I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Dominica. So good I went twice

This is a wonderful restaurant in the downtown core of Roseau in a historic building that has a nice selection of appetizers, main courses and desserts. The menu items include seafoods, pasta dishes, soups, salads and sandwiches. I had the pumpkin soup and tuna ceviche. Both the items were delicious. I had a refreshing sorrel juice to drink followed by a hot chocolate made with local dark chocolate. The service staff was courteous and efficient. The ambiance was cozy and casual. The restroom was well maintained and clean. The cost of my meal was reasonable. All in an all a very pleasant dining experience for my lunchtime meal that I would highly recommend.

Lacou is an absolutely outstanding french restaurant located in a historical building in the heart of Roseau downtown.
Menu has nice selection on fine appetizers, main courses, and desserts. (Check menu and prices photo)
We tried backed pumpkin soup, tuna tataki, goat ragu pasta, and marlin schnitzel. Everything was wonderful.
For dessert we had citrus curd pie (I loved its loved lightly sour taste), and banoffee pie.
It’s is a bit pricey, but worth to come.

This place has very high reviews score and there is a good reason for that. The reason is that they are gooood. The risotto was something special. I ate so much vegetable and I am not used to that. Somehow they convinced me that vegetables were good for me. The cherry on the top was their bannofe. Amazingly good. I didn’t leave any remains of it in the plate. I strongly recommend this place

Lacou is a true culinary gem — a well-deserved 10/10 experience! The food was simply outstanding, bursting with authentic flavor and perfectly balanced seasoning. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, from the texture and presentation to the incredible depth of taste. You can tell that real passion and skill go into every plate — nothing felt rushed or ordinary. The ingredients tasted fresh and high quality, and each bite was a reminder of how good local cuisine can truly be when prepared with care.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Lacou doesn’t just serve food — they deliver an experience filled with flavor, hospitality, and heart. I’ll definitely be returning for another unforgettable meal!

Easily the best meal, service, and upscale atmosphere we found in a week on the island. Advertising as Farm-to-Table. In an interesting location downtown. We followed the Google directions to the location but saw no sign. So, we parked and turned to walking directions. As we looked for it, a security guard across the street noticed our quandary and like a guy who has seen it 100 times, he realized what we were looking for. He waved us over and pointed us in a direction of an arched entrance into a quiet courtyard with a small sign above. There were a few outdoor tables there. Then up some steps into a white walled, well-lit space lined with art and photographs. AC kept the space comfortably cool.
Our server brought us water and the chalkboard that is used for the menu. Seven appetizers, six entrees, and three desserts. The main focus on this menu was seafood, especially Marlin. The Ginger Pumpkin Soup that is very well regraded in reviews was here tonight as were two Goat dishes, Steak and Ragu Pasta. We were asked about additional beverages and we both chose to try the fresh Tangerine Juice. It was delicious. For a starter we chose the Smoked Marlin Accras. a type of fritter, which came with a Passionfruit Sweet Chili dipping sauce. While a bit bready, they were very tasty. My DW being a big pasta fan, chose the Grilled Shrimp Pasta. She pronounced this delicious with a just right black pepper flavor and fresh tasting shrimp. The portion was large enough that she had some for a meal later.
I chose to go all in on Marlin, choosing for my “salad” course, the Marlin Ceviche made with passionfruit juice, daikon, and red onion. Turned out there were some slivered jalapenos in it also which I usually avoid completely. But I found if I picked it apart a bit and avoided the peppers, the dish was delicious. Served with fried plantain “chips’ along side which worked fine but I’d prefer some tortilla chips. The fish was very fresh tasting and I could have eaten more. For my entrée the Marlin was served as a Schnitzel, A thinnish filet with a light breading that appeared to be pan fried to a perfect texture, not feeling oily of heavy at all. Spectacular. Served on top of a layer of Sofrito Risotto, a great accompaniment tasty of tomato and garlic. There was not a speck left on the plate. We had noted the Banoffee Pie on the dessert list and I had to try it. This made with a biscuit type crust, dulche de leche filling, fresh bananas which were served on top here rather than inside the delicious caramel. And of course, whipped cream. If this sounds good at all, do not miss it. For a special occasion or just a top-quality meal make this a priority.

Very creative and tasty food here, we really liked this place. Started with the nice Lacou Punch drink, and a glass of wine. Had the fried octopus appetizer, nice tamarind sauce with pickled green papaya (wish they had bottles of it to sell) and pretty presentation… enjoyed it but it was not the nicest piece of octopus I’ve had, a bit small and slightly dry. Love marlin and I love schnitzel, but this is the first Marlin Schnitzel I’ve ever seen or had, creative, and it was beautiful on the plate and I enjoyed it, but made me wonder if marlin should be “schnitzeled” because it lost some of its lovely marlin texture and flavor, however it was good and the accompanying risotto was delicious. My wife had the goat steak and kindly shared some, we agreed it was the best prepared goat meat we’ve ever had, a nice crust and tender flavorful interior, we want all of our goat to be cooked here! Server was very nice, sharp, prompt, and unobtrusive, perfect. Nice decor and artwork. All very nice, and a good value. Believe that we could not get this nice of a dining experience and food for this price in the USA (card charge $118 US total by charging in EC $, see photo of bill), which we really appreciate. Highly recommend this establishment.

Very nice restaurant serving delicious food cooked to very high standards. Their staff are very friendly and speak both English and French.
I would like to mention that this was the only restaurant open for dinner on a Monday night.

Went here for the first time tonight (Jan 31, 2026). Our van driver recommended it – we also researched it on google and decided to give it a try. Best restaurant we have found on the island of Dominica. 4 of us had dinner – we tried the roasted pumpkin soup and the Marlin Ceviche. Both were good, but in a contest I think the Ceviche may take first place. Then we had the Grilled shrimp pasta, Marlin Shnitzel, and the grilled Marlin. EVERYONE was totally happy with the dinner! But wait – there’s more – dessert! I read online that you have to try the Banoffee pie. SOOOO Good. (Tip, don’t order the pie if you are on a diet!!) Sorry, I don’t have pictures – usually I do, but everything looked so good, we all just started eating!! Place is a little hard to find, down a small alley, but super cute inside.
