Lachele’s Fine Foods + The Fitz is so freaking good! We sat on The Fitz side this time, and the vibes were immaculate. The whole space has this cool, grungy apothecary vibe that feels unique and cozy at the same time.
I’ve been here before with friends and family and have tried several of their burgers and sandwiches — they never miss. Plus, they are always so kind and accommodating, even when I bring my young kids, which I appreciate more than words can say.
But today? Today they outdid themselves.
I was seriously craving a BLT, even though it’s not on the menu. I asked if they could make one, and they hooked me up with the best BLT I have ever had. I’m not kidding — I don’t think you understand… this BLT was SO GOOD. Perfectly toasted, perfectly balanced, absolute perfection. I got it with cheese curds and a chocolate shake, and honestly the whole meal was just next-level amazing.
And a huge shout-out to our waitress, Regina. She was incredibly kind and took care of us with so much grace and warmth. Truly made the experience even better.
If you haven’t been — go. If you have — go again. I will definitely be back!

My son and I have been here 2 times in the last 2 weeks! He really loves the Mac and cheese, obviously, the smashburgers are fantastic, and those tots, supeerrrr crispyyy!! The vibe on the inside is really cool, the staff are very attentive, overall both times have been a great experience. Highly suggest stopping in!! Tell Tito Dustin said hello while you are there!!

I visited Lachele’s with a group of five guys. We all ordered an assortment of burgers and we were served by Echo. She did a great job keeping up on our complicated orders and running back and forth to the kitchen! We appreciate her great service and would highly recommend visiting Lachele’s for some great burgers, tots, cheese curds, or for lunch / dinner in Des Moines! Atmosphere is great, it gives off retro-diner vibes! Something that I feel is so under appreciated !! Highly recommend!

Dined on the Fitz side which has an upscale retro vibe. The service was phenomenal, there when we needed something but not overly attentive. We had a smash burger and a steam burger, both were solid. The tots were very well seasoned and their house garlic ranch was delicious.

First visit and loved it. Burger was fabulous and we enjoyed the atmosphere so much. Its busy and noisy but that was part of the whole experience. Beers are very reasonably priced but the $9 wine was very disappointing, it was basically a couple of shots worth, that’s why I didn’t give 5 stars. I’ll be back for sure, skipping the wine next time!

Loved this entire experience.
Greeted and given a menu immediately and told to order at counter and have a seat at the counter as well. Many tasty sandwiches to choose from. I went with the Young MD and added a salad with parmeson garlic dressing.
Fun watching the action as it was busy and the cooks were cookin! It took maybe 10 minutes to get my order.
Sandwich was delicious. Salad was good. Dressing was fantastic.
I left a nice tip and had a pop so my total was $25.
By the time I left there was a line out the door! Loved the purse hooks under the counter. Comfy bar stools. Various booths and tables available for group diners.
Walked through to the Fitz and enjoyed that atmosphere as well. There was an art festival on the street and some staff had items for sale by the door. Cool!

This place is glorious. So far, I’ve been here twice. Once, it was date night and we were going to go to Sonny’s, but Sonny’s was packed, and I wanted to give the new place a chance. We sat on the Fitz side and had a great time. Last weekend, I took my daughters and ate on the Lachele’s side, and my 11 year old and 9 year old daughters loved their food and service.

Great food, kind staff and a fun atmosphere.
The chicken pot pie, steamed burgers and smash burgers are all delicious. Try the special if it catches your attention. We had a tuna salad sandwich which was also delicious.
Dine in for the best experience.

The special today was an interesting one. The Dijon gravy was great on its own, but got lost a bit amidst to other flavors. Love the pepper jelly, it really added a touch of sweetness. Tots on the side are a nice add on!

SEE EDIT BELOW – Don’t know if they should call this a chicken pot pie. I ordered as a take-out item, so was seated right by the counter to see it made. As soon as the order was placed, someone asked that a pot pie crust be made. Several minutes later, an aluminum dish got three scoops of chicken filling from what looked like a soup warmer, and the crust was placed on top. Then the plastic cover to the dish. It was more like having a slightly thick chicken soup served with a separately prepared crust, which was soggy from being placed over the mixture. Definitely not worth the $19 price tag. And definitely not a chicken pot pie, which is baked.
Someone from Lachele’s contacted my wife, agreed that what we received was not a pot pie, and refunded us the cost of our meal. Appreciate Lachele’s making things right.
